A huge THANK YOU to all of my volunteers that came and helped with everything I needed to get ready for camp each day. They came out to help set up, take care of stations with the Future Dragons, clean up and so much more that happens behind the scenes.
I never imagined how much time and commitment that it took to run a camp like this! The paper work, the little details, making sure I have enough prizes daily, putting together age appropriate gift bags for the final awards. Getting the Dragon ready on the last day, filling up 500 water balloon, water gun stations, golf club cleaning stations, transporting kids from station to station…..and so much more!
I appreciate the parents/grandparents who stepped up and helped whenever we needed them! You guys rock!
Please know that myself or any of the amazing volunteers do not get paid to do this. We do it for our community and we do it for the kids. Golf can be an expensive sport, and many of us who have grown up playing know this. This is why it’s so important to get the kids involved and done so with zero cost to the parents. The more we keep our youth engaged the better!
I want to Thank yet again, my right hand man, my mentor, and just an overall amazing man who shares his love of the game with so many people including our Future Dragons! Keith Dunkelbarger was there and ready every single day. Even at our July camp where the temperature with heat index was over 104 degrees. He was still there for these Future Dragon Golfers. And he has always been there for me and my golf game since I was 5 (and that’s a long time…) If you see him out and about, please introduce yourself and thank him for being a selfless man who would do anything to help young kids fall in love with the game of golf!
Next I would like to thank 2 amazing PCHS Lady Dragon golfers. Paisley Alig (Fr) Jamie Alig and Jemma Gepford (Sr). These two helped at both camps, everyday, not concerned about their social life, not concerned that they were donating time, not concerned that they were drenched in sweat. They did it for me and they did it for all of the Future Dragon golfers! They have shown me just what kind of leadership they have in them and I couldn’t be more proud of them! They dealt with all my small meltdowns trying to make everything perfect (and as you all saw it was by far perfect, more like complete chaos😂) I cannot thank them enough! One proud Coach!
Then we have my Assistant PCHS Lady Dragons Coach, Nathan Green, Ada Dralle (So), Cate Cummings (Jr), my niece Isla Clements (Jr), Sophia Hamilton (Fr), Carleigh Rabbe (Jr), all show up when they could to help with stations, setup, and cleanup!
My daughter Kaitlyn Powell, my other daughter (whom I claim) Mady Harper, as well as my son, Brendan Miller, my other son I claim, Zach Highland (Carrie Highland) for helping me when I needed it. Brendan and Zach helped me so much with setup and cleanup everyday!!
Thank you to Hunter Dault (Shannon Dault) and Liam Brown. These two youngmen showed up everyday to help on the driving range! I am so very appreciative of them! Jonathan Sombeck (Abbey Sombeck) came out whenever he could as well! He is a freshman on the boys Varsity PCHS Golf Team and did an amazing job teaching the kids how to chip!
And one of my faves! We just cannot forget to mention “LB” a.k.a Don Miller! He was a father who went above and beyond all week for these kids! He was truly amazing and all the kids just loved him!!!
To my parents, Barbara Feeney and Brian Feeney, they are the reason I am capable and able to do this! Since I was 5 and fell in love with the game they have always been my biggest cheerleaders and did whatever it took in order for me to play golf all these years. They are the reason I cannot only coach the PCHS Lady Dragons, but they made it possible for me to do these camps in the first place. Some know and some do not, but I went through Non- Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2021-2022. It has taken a huge toll on my life as I am still trying to get back to the old me. So this summer made me feel just a little more whole again helping these young Future Dragon Golfers! I love you mom and dad❤️
I know there is more that I am missing, and I apologize! But we are grateful for each and everyone of you! Can’t wait until next summer!!!
