Hello Runners,
I want to take a moment to share something with you—MCTU is hands down the hardest event to put on out of all our races. Why? Because it takes place on TWRA property, and every year, we have to clear the trails all over again. It never fails to amaze me (and the volunteers) how quickly the forest reclaims what isn’t used.
Coming into this race, I was feeling the pressure. February kicked off with our biggest event, The Black Toe Run, and right after that, I left for HardWin’s first Adventure Vacation in Patagonia. While I was away, an army of volunteers stepped up, clearing the trails and pushing back the forest. It’s a massive job, and they got it done. I can't thank them enough—HardWin races wouldn’t be possible without people like them. Volunteers are the heart and backbone of everything we do.
I always feel a little guilty asking people to put in this much work, but I simply couldn’t do it alone. So, if you have a moment, please drop a message on the HardWin FB page to show some love. Whether it’s about the well-marked course, the cleared trails, the aid stations, or anything you enjoyed, let’s give credit where it’s due. They are HardWin and the reason we can have small races like this.
Thank You, Runners!
It was incredible hearing your race stories and watching you push through. You make all of this worth it. Thank you for being part of MCTU!
What’s Coming Up?
The HardWin Quadruple Challenge
Do you have what it takes to complete Black Toe Run, MCTU, Caney Fork, and Savage Gulf? If you do, I’ll be making a custom award based on the distances you complete.
The top-tier award goes to those who complete the toughest distances across all four races. Think:
BTR 48-hour
MCTU 50K
Caney Fork 50K
Savage Gulf Marathon
I know at least one person already going for it—who else is in? Let’s make it official.
March is Going to Be HUGE!
I won’t lie—I’m feeling a little overwhelmed. Here’s what’s ahead:
March 15th – Caney Fork Ultra (25K / 50K)
A waterfall paradise with stunning views! This is a race we recently took over, and it’s our first year hosting it. Help us grow it! The course is packed with waterfalls and caves, and it deserves a strong community.
March 29th – Savage Gulf (25K / 26.2M)
The rugged beast of the East. Some say it’s the toughest marathon out there. Are you up for the challenge?
Volunteers Needed!
We need volunteers to make these races a success! From runner check-ins to aid stations and course sweeping, every role matters. Want to be part of something epic? Sign up at [email protected].
HardWin Vacations: Patagonia & Maine
We just wrapped up our Patagonia adventure, and Maine is next!
For the Maine trip, we’re tackling all the greatest peaks the state has to offer. It’s an incredible group so far, and there’s still space available! Maine has quickly become one of my favorite places—its rugged beauty is unreal, and the rewards are worth the effort. I promise this will be a top life experience for anyone who joins.
Looking ahead:
Patagonia 2026 – We’ll be making some refinements to make it even better.
Iceland 2026 (Summer) – With a direct flight from TN now available, this trip is going to be amazing! Stay tuned.
If you’re looking for an adventure without the long flight, come with us to Maine!
Race Timing & Photos
Timing Results – Already posted! Check them out and let me know if you spot any issues.
?? Photos – I’ll post an update on Facebook & Instagram when they’re ready (usually within four days post-race).
New this year! We’re making custom awards—want your photo (or your team’s) on a shirt, cup, or even burned into wood or rock? Let me know! They make awesome gifts.
I will have Hell Mary, Natchez, BTR and Fiery Gizz up in the coming weeks.
