Last year I had the opportunity to sit down with my friends and have an honest conversation about ministry, leadership, life and legacy. The entire experience reminded me how thankful I am for friends with different perspectives, experiences and strengths. I love that we don’t all have to agree on every on topic to have productive conversations.
One of Gallups guiding principles is that differences are advantages. They’re not problems that we need to solve, they’re resources that create an advantage when used wisely.
When you’re working with someone with a contrasting theme, this is an opportunity for you both to leverage and win together. Here’s an example…
Activator: Accelerator
Deliberative: Brake
An activator, needs someone to help them recognize when to pump the breaks. Deliberative needs someone to help them move from the careful thought they put into something to action.
Building trust and working together is beneficial for both. They will challenge each other’s thought process and pace. They have the ability to bring out the best in each other and achieve success.
Differences = Advantages
