It’s every class they showed up for, every time they kept trying, and every little challenge they learned to overcome.

These moments are why Belt Ceremony is so special. ❤️
Watching our students light up with pride and excitement reminds us that every belt represents so much more than a new color — it represents growth, confidence, discipline, and memories they’ll carry with them.

And sometimes, the best part is getting to celebrate that moment with a friend right beside you. 🥹🥋

She told me she wasn’t good at anything.

Dance lasted two months. Soccer, less.
Every time, the same ending — and every time
I wondered if it was something I did.

So we tried one more thing.

This is day nine. White belt.
She still can‘t hold the stance right.
Her arms shake by the second minute.

But she hasn’t dropped them.

That‘s the part nobody posts about.
Not the black belt. Not the trophy.
Just a kid, in week two, deciding
that hard and impossible are different words.

If your child has quit three things this year,
they’re not the problem.

where being bad at something
is the whole point.

🥋 Leadership Meeting: Lessons That Last Beyond the Mat

At our recent Leadership Meeting, we had the special opportunity to welcome back former ABBA students who have now graduated from college and moved on to the next chapters of their lives.

They shared with our current students how Taekwondo helped them throughout school and beyond — building discipline, confidence, perseverance, leadership, and the ability to keep going when things weren’t easy.

It was especially meaningful for our younger students to hear these lessons from people who once stood exactly where they are today.

And of course, we also had plenty of time to laugh, connect, and enjoy being together. ❤️

This is what makes our ABBA family special. The belts, classes, and competitions may be part of the journey, but the lessons and relationships can last a lifetime.

It may take longer for American Black Belt Academy students to qualify for their black belts than some newer, more contemporary Taekwondo school require. We believe getting a black belt fast isn’t better. All belts are earned at the individual ‘s pace and are measured by skills and maturity, not a timeline. The amount of time someone spends getting to black belt isn’t standardized but promotion from one black belt to the next is, and it takes years. American Black Belt Academy applies the standards to the levels prior to black belt.

So here’s what we do with 4-to-6-year-olds:

We give them something that feels a little hard.
We teach them to breathe, focus, and try again.
And we cheer them on until they feel what it‘s like to finish.
