Yesterday couldn’t have been a more beautiful day for ice climbing in Auburn with some adventurous students from Amherst College. Sunny with warmer temps made for softer ice conditions. Plus the ice is the fattest it’s been all winter in there right now. If anyone is looking to go ice climbing this week or weekend, just let me know.

Had an incredible day guiding an ice climbing trip yesterday in Auburn with a bunch of fun loving, adventurous people. The weather was so mild that it was one of the first days climbing this year that I didn’t feel like I was freezing my ass off. It was warm enough that the ice softened and it was super easy to pe*****te with our tools to climb. In fact, many of my clients chose to climb without gloves. Something you definitely can’t do when it’s a freezing cold day. Not only did we have an amazing day climbing, but the rains that came began shortly after we parted ways at the end of a really fun day of local adventure.

Mount Willard was pretty quiet for the start of the new year. Some sunshine and some protection from the wind on the Monkey Wrench and Hitchock Gully to the summit was well worth the effort climbing with good friends.
