Hagley Landing is the next to last landing on the Waccamaw River and is managed by South Carolina Department of Natural Resources. This will be the last section of the Waccamaw River. The river is the widest here, except for the mouth of the Waccamaw River. The landing has a nice beach like area to put in kayaks next to the 2 hard surface launch lanes with a dock you can tie up to.

The maps combines 3 trails together to show where the trails posted below cover in the Hagley Landing area.

The parking area is limited and is actually on the side of the road. The area closest to the landing is used for loading and unloading the boats only. Parking is not allowed there.

The landing is about 130 miles from the dam according to the Waccamaw River Blue Trail.

This is another landing that has access to multiple creeks and tributaries, including to the Great P*e Dee River. This gives you an option to explore.

This part of the Waccamaw River is considered tidal, so when leaving from this landing you should know what the tide times are, so that you can time resting spot and kayak with the tide. With only being 10 miles from Winyah Bay, the tide affects the current a lot here. This paddle is a great 11.6 miles exploring paddle. It goes upriver and turns to explore by some golf courses. Then goes back to the Waccamaw River and turns upriver again. It crosses over and explores above Schooner Creek until it hits a d**e rebuild. It turns around back to Hagley Landing via Schooner Creek.

A 2nd trail has been added here that paddles via 2 different creeks to the Great P*e Dee River. It starts going up the Waccamaw River then turns up towards the Bullins Creek. It continues up Bullins Creek until it reaches the Great P*e Dee River. The paddle turns downriver until it reaches Squirrel Creek. The goes down Squirrel Creek until the Waccamaw River and then returns back to Hagley Landing. 2 of the maps shown are zoomed in version of the trail to see the trail better.

This post actually shows 1 trail that starts a Sandy Island. This trail can be used to navigate upriver or downriver from Hagley Landing.

This downriver part is about a 10 mile trip from Hagley Landing to the East Bay Public Boat Ramp. You definitely want to paddle with the tide. That is how the trip displayed was done under 3 hours. Also check to see how windy it is, because the river here has been known to be heavy winds between Georgetown and Hagley Landing.

When you see the Georgetown Bridge, it may seem like you are close, but you still have 5 miles to go.

The upriver trail goes to Sandy Island Landing and is about 6 miles.

There are many different ways to explore all of the extensions of the Waccamaw River and the Great P*e Dee River across from Hagley Landing. The Samworth Landing is a great place to rest and to wait for the tide to change. It is about a 10 to 13 mile trip and takes about 4 to 5 hours to travel it, depending how much you want to explore the different tributaries. There are 2 maps showing different ways to paddle there.

Feel free to explore on you own and enjoy your trip.

There is also a 2 mile hiking trail at the Samworth WMA. The trail is a trail that is on the application called AllTrails.

Another trail has been end of the images, that did not go to Samworth WMA, but did come close to it. It has started at Hagley and crosses over to Jericho Creek from Hagley Landing and went up towards Little Carr Creek. It turns up Little Carr Creek and when it reaches the Great P*e Dee River. It then turns down river and then turns down Carr Creek. When it reaches Jericho Creek it turns to the right and finishes Jericho Creek. Just as it reaches the Great P*e Dee River, it turns left through the Middleton Cut. When it reaches the Waccamaw River, it turns upriver, back to Hagley Landing.
