Darrin Strey stopped by to spend time with some 4th-and 5th-grade students at Later Elementary today, reading “The Day Roy Riegels Ran the Wrong Way” and sharing an important message about facing challenges, learning from mistakes, and persevering through adversity.

The students were engaged, inspired, and excited to hear firsthand about resilience, hard work, and believing in yourself—both on and off the field.

Thank you, Darrin, for giving back, leading by example, and reminding our students that setbacks don’t define you—how you respond does.

Paw Paw Football is proud to announce that Austin Ackerman has officially committed to continue his football career at Calvin Knights.

Austin’s journey has been defined by hard work, toughness, and consistency. A dominant two-way lineman, Austin controlled the line of scrimmage all season, earning All-Region honors and 1st Team All-Conference recognition on both the offensive and defensive lines. His leadership, physicality, and relentless motor set the standard in the trenches and made everyone around him better.

The Paw Paw → Calvin pipeline continues to grow, with Austin becoming another Red Wolf in recent years to take his talents to Calvin. That connection speaks to the work ethic, development, and culture that are built into our program. Calvin is getting more than a great football player — they’re getting a disciplined, high-character young man who knows how to work, lead, and compete at a high level.

Once a Red Wolf, always a Red Wolf.

Former Paw Paw Girls Basketball standout AJ Rickli continues to make her mark at the next level with Wayne State Warriors.

In her latest performance, AJ delivered 13 points on a perfect 4-for-4 shooting, went 5-for-5 from the free-throw line, and made a strong impact on both ends of the floor. Her efficiency, poise, and toughness are exactly what Paw Paw fans remember—and exactly why she’s succeeding at the collegiate level.

Paw Paw is proud to watch you continue to grow and succeed at the collegiate level. Well done, AJ.

AP ALL-STATE HONOR | BEN MILLER

Senior Running Back Ben Miller has added another prestigious honor to an already historic career, being named Associated Press Michigan All-State Running Back (Division 3 & 4). Only four running backs total across both divisions were selected for this honor, placing Ben among the elite players in the state.

Ben’s senior season was one of the most dominant performances in program history. He finished the year with 1,799 rushing yards and 28 touchdowns on 186 carries, averaging an incredible 9.67 yards per carry, while also contributing 89 tackles on defense. Along the way, he became Paw Paw’s all-time career rushing leader with 3,946 yards, cementing his place among the greats to ever wear the Red Wolves uniform.

In addition to his All-State recognition, Ben was named Wolverine Conference Offensive Player of the Year, earned First Team All-Conference honors, and was selected All-Region Running Back—a testament to his consistency, toughness, and impact against top competition.

A three-time First Team All-Conference selection and team captain, Ben was the engine of Paw Paw’s offense and a leader in every sense of the word. His work ethic, physical running style, and relentless competitiveness set the standard every week.

Congratulations to Ben Miller on an unforgettable career and a well-deserved All-State honor. His legacy stands as one of the finest in Paw Paw Football history.

ALL-STATE DEFENSIVE BACK – ELIAS SONNEBERG

Earning All-State is one of the toughest honors in Michigan high school football. Only a select group of players statewide receives it each year, and it’s based on far more than stats. Coaches and media study game film, consistency, impact plays, leadership, and how a player performs against top competition.

This season, Elias Sonneberg proved he belongs among the very best. A three-year varsity starter and authentic leader, Elias was the heart of the Red Wolves’ secondary — a “no-fly-zone” defender who brought toughness, intelligence, and versatility every single week. He was a vocal captain, a tone-setter, and one of the most dependable players on the field.

2025 Season Defensive Stats
• 55 total tackles
• 32 solo tackles
• 4 interceptions
• 2 forced fumbles
• 3 tackles for loss
• 1 sack

His elite production earned him multiple major postseason awards, including:
• Division 4 All-State Defensive Back
• All-Region Defensive Back
• Wolverine Conference 1st Team Defensive Back

Elias didn’t just play the position — he anchored our defense. His leadership, preparation, and relentless effort left a lasting mark on our program, cementing his legacy among the greats of Paw Paw football.

Congratulations to Elias Sonneberg — All-State Defensive Back and a true Red Wolf leader.

Congratulations, Connor!

The GLIAC has long been a premier Division II football conference, and with 11 competitive programs, earning All-GLIAC recognition highlights the level of excellence required to stand out. Connor did precisely that.

The Huskies' Second Team All-GLIAC honorees included defensive lineman Connor Hindenach. In the 2025 season, Connor delivered the best year of his career, anchoring the defensive front with consistent production and big-play ability. He appeared in 11 games and totaled 34 tackles, including 21 solo stops and 13 assists. He was a force behind the line of scrimmage, recording 7 tackles for loss for 42 yards and adding 5 sacks for 28 yards. Connor also contributed in critical moments, breaking up a pass, forcing a fumble, and recovering two more. His 2025 performance showcased his strength, motor, and impact as one of the most reliable and disruptive defenders on the roster.

Before his collegiate career, Connor laid a strong foundation at Paw Paw High School, where he was a reliable leader, a tough defender, and an excellent student. He consistently made the players around him better through his unselfishness, toughness, and team-first mindset. Connor played wherever he was needed—middle linebacker, defensive line, tight end, running back—and dominated at every spot to help the team win. His work ethic and character stood out early, and those qualities carried directly into his success at the next level.

Earning All-Region is one of the toughest honors in high school football, especially for offensive linemen whose impact comes from strength, consistency, and dominance on film. Coaches and media evaluate technique, physicality, leadership, and how a lineman controls the trenches against top competition. This year, Tyler Kruizenga earned All-Region Offensive Lineman after being the anchor of one of the top rushing attacks in the state. He consistently dominated the line of scrimmage, paved the way for our explosive ground game, and set the tone with his toughness and effort every week. Tyler was a leader up front and a major reason our offense reached the level it did. A well-deserved honor for a lineman who owned the trenches all season.

He finished with 66 tackles, 30 solo, 36 assists, 4 sacks, and 12 tackles for loss, anchoring our defensive front every single week.
