Paul Smith's Woodsmen Team Paul Smith's Woodmen Team is a co-ed team and club at Paul Smith's College. Have you ever wanted to throw an axe or chop a log with a razor sharp axe?

Events team members compete in include bow saw, cross-cut, single buck, log rolling, pole climbing, axe throw, splitting, underhand chop, vertical chop and more. The Paul Smith’s Woodsmen’s Team is a co-ed team that competes in traditional lumberjack sports (as seen on ESPN, Outdoor Channel, etc.) throughout the northeast US and Canada.

We had a good time and some good food at our annual end of the year team potluck. We also got to recognize the achievements of some of our athletes. Congratulations to Raff Burden and Hannah Giguere for being awarded Rookie of the Year, Grady Ball and Morgan Cheney for being recognized as Most Improved and Conner Zenger for winning the Spirit Of The Team award. We also want to congratulate our athletes who were recognized as USCAA National All Academic Athletes: Grady Ball, Taylor Sirois, Allison Lang, Chris Burnett, Natan Sanchez, Alex Martin, and McKenna Verhagen.

In addition to the awards we also held our club officer elections. We would like to recognize our outgoing officers who and thank them for all their hard work and dedication to the team and welcome our new officers:

Vice President - Ben Winter
Secretary - Morgan Cheney
Treasurer - Sam Latimore

We got to recognize some of our amazing student athletes this past Thursday during our Athletics Banquet at Hotel Saranac. Congratulations to Parker Bogardus for being awarded Men's Most Valuable Player, Kyle Joray for receiving the Men's Coach's Award, Emily Passno for being recognized as the Women's Most Valuable Player, and Nita Schumacher for receiving the Women's Coaches Award. We had a fun and successful close to our season this weekend at SUNY ESF 🥇🪓💪🪵 Our undefeated Jack & Jill team took home the spring meet trophy 🏆 We’re proud of our men’s and women’s team who put up a good fight throughout the meet.
