On the biggest stage, in the NYBCL Final, we were sent in to bat first under extremely challenging conditions. Heavy dew and long grass made the outfield slow and the ball heavy, making run-scoring difficult from the start.
We suffered an early setback when we lost our captain Sayem Ahmed. With the pressure on, Shofi Zaman and Noyon Haque stepped up when the team needed them most. The pair put together a crucial 77-run partnership, absorbing the pressure, rebuilding the innings, and giving us a platform to fight from. Our middle and lower order then chipped in with valuable runs, pushing the total to 180 and giving Sandwip United King Cobra a challenging target to chase.
With the ball, we couldn't have asked for a better start. Juned Ahmed struck with the very first ball of the innings, giving us the early breakthrough and setting the tone. From there, our spinners completely turned the game in our favor. Samrat Talukder produced an outstanding five-wicket haul, while Tanim Uddin claimed three wickets from the other end. Together, they applied relentless pressure, broke partnerships, and never allowed Sandwip to settle into the chase.
Sandwip United King Cobra were eventually bowled out for 75, completing a dominant 104 run victory for NJ Royals in the NYBCL Final.
We are incredibly proud to finish the season as NYBCL Champions and grateful to everyone who supported NJ Royals throughout this journey.
A memorable season, a well earned title, and a proud moment for NJ Royals.
