Compared to everything else going on this world this seems small in perspective and my thoughts and prayers go out to Hurricane and Earthquake victims. I do have a small moral victory that has been a hard road and that I'm finally down below 250. Officially 249.8lbs. I know that is still heavy, but a little over 8 weeks in and 20lbs down I am pretty pleased with the progress. It has not been easy and many weeks where the needle didn't budge and I questioned why should I bother and can I still change at 40. Then a compliment came in week 7, then more people noticed in week 8 and I know the world will see eventually, but it is the small things that help us keep going like the mile marker on the highway to our destinations. It can seem like forever to the point where we are counting the mile markers to the decimal, but rest assured we are moving forward and we will get there as long as we keep it up and not quit. Boy did I get an ego boost on Sunday and at least some form of confirmation that I'm beginning to see results. A guy asked how much can I bench which would denote that he surmised by my appearance that I must lift. No one would say that 6 and half weeks ago. I am reminded the age old saying Rome wasn't built in a day and it is a journey I'm on. I will get there even if it is half a pound on the scale a week or impatiently waiting to fit in my smaller clothes. But those little things like that guy help reinforce I am on the right track and need to keep moving forward. Have a blessed week.

I should take a picture of myself walking cause I just did legs at lunch and I look like I got worked over good. I have been dreading this workout all week. Neil Hill's leg workout with Kris Gethin is so beast and I'm not done yet. Still got 1 exercise left after work. My point is this. I can make a million excuses on why I can't work out and I have. Not enough time for example. Well if you have to half now and half later make it happen. Your body will thank you after it calms down from being mad that you put it through all that pain. Inch by inch, day by day, put the little things first and the big thing will be accomplished. Have a blessed day!

Hey guys I know it's been a while and too be honest I had let myself go. I fell into the I'm 40 slump and everything hurts and always tired. I did not want to write to you till I was surely committed to the current program I'm in. I'm in the middle of Kris Gethin 12 week hardcore training program and it has truly rejuvenated me. It feels good to push myself again and have the new energy that comes from working out. I hope to share more in the future, but just wanted to let you know I'm back. Slowly, but surely will press on.

Gentlemen it is cold and the weather punishes the body to stay in and watch tv with bon bons, but I challenge the cold! I challenge you to be different. To be preparing for the spring and summer around the corner. So I am challenging you to compete in the Spring 2016 Pope bodybuilding classic! Do you accept the call? Gentlemen it's been a blast!!! Ruben, Omar, and myself completed the challenge to everyone else I hope you achieved your personal goals. That you are happier with yourselves and healthier in the long run. What's next? I had my celebration food, but I'm continuing on to prepare for a Spartan sprint. What are your summer goals?

Gentlemen we have reached the 10 day mark! For many of us we started our journey to this day months ago. Now it's time to do your final tweaks, adjustments to your eating and workouts. We are so close so let us make sure we leave nothing on the table of regret. No matter what be proud of what you have accomplished and know you have learned a lot about yourself through this process.

We are T-minus 25 days to D-Day! Competiton will show the fruits of your labors. Now is not the time to take off so put in the time now so you won't be ashamed on June 20th no matter where you at be proud of what you accomplished.

Sometimes we feel little to no progress and feel we have to continue to cut calories to lose weight. A reminder your body will go to great lengths to survive and slow your metabolism to a crawl. Are you eating too little is the question you may need to ask yourself. Are you eating too little carbs? Fats play a part in this as well. Our goal is healthy looking, not a starvation look. We all are on a journey, a path, a road that we are traveling on to achieve success. Along the way there are pot-holes, detours, and bridges out that often get in the way. How do you handle those pitfalls to your success? Remember a lot can happen before June 20th so I encourage you not to quit your quest even if your behind the 8 ball. If you are goal was to get to 180 and you get 190 was it a failure or do you not look at at 20-30 lbs you lost to get to the 190? Stay strong competitors and keep your eye on the prize.

Moment of transparency this is the time where I feel like why am I doing this? For what, for whom, and am I accomplishing anything at all. I remind myself I am doing this for a healthier me for my family, my future children to say you can accomplish great things if you put your heart into it, and yes I am accomplishing something little by little centimetres at a time, not even inches, but when I reach the finish line it will add up and I will be proud of what I accomplished! Stay strong my fellow competitors and see you June 20th!
