Been waiting a few years for this because i was scared to take a chance of loosing her due to having puppies being that she got ran over,had her pelvic bone broken in three places and has a steel plate with 6 screws holding her together, but the vet gave me a clean bill of health to breed her so here they are. Big Oaks/Rotten Bayou Maci and the puppies are doing great. Special thanks to Fletcher Ladner for allowing me to breed her to Rotten Bayou Hatchet. These pups should be some go getters to say the least.

Macis young guns smoked them again today ending up with 21. We were 3 squirrels short on all three being limited out but they gave it there all with their little single shots. Aint nothing more fun to me than seeing these young boys have such a great time. Its why i squirrel hunt with dogs.
Justin Bennett how many do you think we let get away? Im gonna say atleast 25?

Ole Maci said she loves when she has the young guns behind her. Only her second time out of the pen since February,half crippled,fat,and way out of shape, but she was smoking them. They killed 12, only let 6 get away, and couldn’t find another 7-8 in these south ms thickets. Pretty damn awesome for three kids under 12 years old with single shots. These boys were slaying em. My little buddy Peyton, aka “Little Country”, was the winner of $20.00 cash for killing the most.

Ole Maci said not to give her Ms Gulf Coast Queen crown away just yet. Haha. Just kidding, but thankfully shes coming back stronger every trip to the woods. Got a late start but still managed to get limits for both shooters with an hour of daylight left. Killed 16, let 5 get away. Pic to come when we get back to camp and take one.

I’m a little late because I didnt realize that I hadn’t posted this until earlier today,which is very odd because I hardly ever post my hunts with adults, and always post the hunts when there’s kids hunting with us. But in my defense,I was more excited about sending the pic to their Annie, which I did, and forgot to post it on Facebook like I normally do. Anyway, last week I took a couple of my little cousins on their first squirrel hunt. They killed 4,we let a few get away, couldn’t get several to move for us,and 1 c**n. They’re still telling stories about it , which is what we love most. Haha. Kids are the biggest reason that I have for squirrel hunting with dogs. My moto is “if they’re in the woods hunting, they’re not in the streets gunning”. I welcome ANYONE to bring their children squirrel hunting with us here at Big Oaks Kennels, for fun, laughter, and most importantly,memories that they will never forget. All we ask for is safety for everyone. Let me know when y’all are ready.

We took Maci for a little warm up this morning with 5 lil soldiers,3 shooting,and had a good time. They killed 12,only missed 4,and couldn’t find several more. I love making memories with my mini squirrel killing protégés. Haha. It’s about the kids. Gotta love it.
Thanks for coming Tevon,Ally,and Cooper. I hope y’all had a good time and come back again. ANYTIME. We enjoyed it.
And last but not least, my two full time killers, Peyton and Braden. Haha

We got our signs on the trailer and we’re about to finish painting the inside, build bunks, and wire her up with 110 volts. She’s gonna be ready for a road trip by tomorrow.
Special thanks to my good friends,Glen and Monica Malley Ladner, owners of “Dixie Signs”in Pass Christian,for the awesome work. I told them what i wanted over the phone last night, i showed up for my appointment at 11:00 am this morning as scheduled,and i was out of there by 12:00. It doesnt get any more convenient than that. They went above and beyond the expectations that i had envisioned. Thanks.
Ps- For all of my local shooters. Let me know when yall are ready to go hunt some good woods because Ole Maci is sitting on ready and waiting on go. She’ll be back in action by the end of this month. Until then i have some nice pups that are doing very good to follow behind so lets do it.

Well guys,us here at Big Oaks Kennels, myself and my “Honey” Rachel Ladner, have decided that we’re tired of belly crawling through these rattlesnake infested South Mississippi thickets to get to our dogs treed. Haha. So we invested in a new 6x12 enclosed cargo trailer today so that we can travel further north to some woods that we can actually walk in, with trees without leaves all year round for a change. Just gotta put some lay down beds so that we can raise them out of the way for the four wheeler to come in,and put a small shower in the front. Then we’ll be ready to roll out on October 1st. Planning to do some traveling this year to squirrel hunt. This is going to be a blast. Literally.
