Rebuilding old habits is hard. Starting over from scratch is hard. I used to warm up with a 135 squat and now I’m struggling to push out 4 reps of 120. I want to give up because I’m so freaking tired and frustrated with not being where I used to be, but I know the only way to get back there is to keep going. I’m happy to be fighting these blazers everyday again. I finally feel like me

Swole-mates for life!! I haven’t completed a gym session in months. I haven’t even had the physical desire to go to the gym in months. My brain has been screaming at me to go because I know it’s what I need but boy have depression, stress and apparently hyperthyroidism been winning this year. I’m thankful to these two for pushing me to get back to one of my biggest passions. MAN I miss training others and myself. My goal is to get back to taking care of myself. Romanticizing my life. Will it be easy? Absolutely not but we have to get comfortable with being uncomfortable sometimes.

Warning: long post ahead
Hi! Once again I’m working on my capstone and found something from a research article I’m being forced to analyze that made want to remind everyone that simply being kind is crucial:
“There was a significant positive correlation between racial/ethnic discrimination (calculated by frequency) and severity of suicidal ideation, PTSD symptoms, and depressive symptoms.”
-“Racial/ethnic discrimination and suicidal risk in a treatment group of ethnoracially minoritized adolescents” by Lillian Polancp-Roman et al.
Now, correlation is not causation. This evidence of correlation simply shows a relation. This means that as one thing changes, in this case racial/ethnic discrimination, this other variables, mental health related issues, will also change. Now this positive correlation implies that as one increases so will the other.
You may not like or appreciate ethnic/racial/cultural diversity. But be careful with your words and actions.
Once again

Hi yes. I’m back…I think. I’ve taken a hiatus of some sort from social media (and the gym 🥴) but in this time I’ve been trying to focus on school and do some self-reflection (let’s here it for ).
One thing I’ve learned is I give some really good advice but I’m trash at taking it. Does that make me a hypocrite? Technically yes. BUT I’m working on it ok? I have found that it’s harder to listen to our own words of wisdom because we don’t have walls to bounce the issue off of. We can’t objectively analyze the situation because we are emotionally attached to it. We’re distracted by every little detail. If we want to give good advice to our best friend we ask questions we help them dive into the problem deeper. The same thing applies when we are trying to resolve our own personal issues. Hold yourself responsible for the situation. Gain some perspective and try to see it from a different angle , maybe take a couple steps back. Have some compassion and challenge your excuses.
Is it easy? Absolutely not love (cue a horrid British accent). But I promise you it’ll worth it. Besos😘!!!!

Me and some of my favorite coworkers have an after school group with our 4th grade girls. In Positive Path we talk with our girls about the struggles of growing up and we try to help them develop healthy habits and mindsets. Last week it was my turn to lead and I created a slideshow on my favorite topic. I am a firm believer in positive self talk and emphasizing our own strengths. This was so much fun for me to create and my girls enjoyed it so much, I thought I’d share it with y’all. May we all stay on the positive path and radiate positivity.

As you all know today is World Mental Health Day and you also know that I am a HUGE advocate for mental health. I have struggled with mental illness for years and let me say it’s not easy. Progress never is. Today I celebrated by doing the things that make me the happiest. I spent time with my family. I laughed. I went to the gym. Today I lived. Of you are struggling with mental illness please do not feel like you have to battle it alone. After all very few battles have been won by an army of one. Seek professional help, talk to your closest friend if you can. My DMs are always open and I will always listen and help where I can.

If you don’t cry your tear ducts will get clogged up and when you get old you won’t be able to cry.
No but Fr. It’s ok to cry. Holding in emotions and not acknowledging their validity is damaging. Your strength is more than a physical one but a mental one as well. Don’t let anyone take that for you

“You’re too loud.” “You’re too spirited.” “You’re too this.” “You’re too that.”

For so many of us these are the kinds of things we have heard forever because we never wanted to fit into society’s unrealistic molds. For the longest I listened to and believed this. I thought I had to be the quiet and calm girl that set back and blended in. Over time, I learned that I deserve to be exactly who I am. I am loud. I am spirited. I am full of passion and creativity and I deserve to be just like everyone else. And so do you.
