This Milk.Blitz.Street.Bomb article was published in September of 2017 a few years after I had met Kang Rafijen on my first "solo" training trip to Indonesia with Kang Yana in 2014. I had first traveled to Bandung with Kang Yana, where I met with Kang Rafijen and a few other Sundanese silat instructors before continuing to East Java. This was a very memorable trip because it was more independent and because I was able to get some sleep (the previous three training camps are more of a pleasant blur.) On this trip, I also started my training with Mas Amien, who you can read about in another article and hit a major linguistic milestone. I ordered pulsa (kind of like go-juice for your cell phone) and some salak (snake-fruit). Additionally, I am fairly certain someone in the market was keeping a tiger because its roars were regularly vibrating the corrugated metal walls of one of the houses. Fun times.
