Through divine intervention, Auvin and I met nearly 30 years ago through a very dear friend of ours, Carl Tashima. At the time, we were both training hard and chasing our childhood dreams of playing professional baseball.
Life has a funny way of bringing things full circle. Today, while our paths may look different, we still share the same passion for competition, growth, and pursuing our dreams—this time on the golf course. 👍⛳️
Grateful for the friendship, the journey, and all the memories along the way.

Today, as I watched you graduate from 6th grade, I found myself feeling a mixture of pride, gratitude, and disbelief. It feels like just yesterday I was holding your hand as you walked into Kindergarten for the very first time. Now, here you are, standing at the end of one chapter and preparing to begin another.

I want you to know how proud I am of the young lady you are becoming.

Not because of your grades, your achievements, your dancing, or any awards you may receive—but because of your character. I see your kindness toward others. I see your determination when things don’t come easily. I see your willingness to keep going, even when you’re frustrated or afraid. Those qualities will take you much further in life than any trophy ever could.

As your dad, I’ve had the privilege of watching you grow through victories and challenges. I’ve seen you celebrate successes and work through disappointments. I’ve watched you learn that life isn’t always about getting the result you want, but about having the courage to keep showing up and giving your best effort.

Middle school will bring new experiences, new friendships, new opportunities, and new challenges. There will be days when you feel confident and days when you question yourself. Through it all, remember these things:

Be kind.
Work hard.
Stay humble.
Have courage.
And never forget who you are.

You don’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to have all the answers. You simply have to keep moving forward, one step at a time.

One of the greatest gifts you’ve given me is the opportunity to be your father. You have taught me just as much as I have tried to teach you. Your laughter, your energy, your passion, and your heart have made my life richer than I could have ever imagined.

As you leave elementary school behind, don’t rush to grow up too fast. Enjoy the journey. Make memories. Learn from mistakes. Dream big. And always know that no matter where life takes you, Mom and I will be cheering for you every step of the way.

Today is not an ending. It’s a beginning.

Congratulations on your 6th-grade graduation, sweetheart. We love you more than words can express, and we cannot wait to see the amazing things you will accomplish in the years ahead.

With all my love,

Dad ❤️🎓✨

“Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.”
— William Arthur Ward

Everything I have, everywhere I’ve been, and everyone I’ve met has played a role, one way or another, in shaping who I am today. If I had the opportunity to share every one of those stories, it would be endless.

No summit is reached alone; every mountain is conquered with the help of others.

Golf Made Simple, better known as “GMS,” was a golf instruction company based in St. Augustine, Florida. Marc Solomon, the founder and creator of GMS, graciously gave me an opportunity to join the team upon graduating from the Golf Academy in 2005. Being part of this organization was a life-changing experience and a critical stepping stone that helped mold me into the golf instructor I am today.

Words can only express so much gratitude, but I am forever indebted to Marc and GMS for mentoring me—not only in learning and teaching golf the proper way, but in understanding how to communicate with people from all walks of life.

My experience at GMS gave me the opportunity to face and overcome the challenges of teaching and communicating golf to some of the most prominent figures in the world, many of whom were among the wealthiest and most successful individuals in their respective fields.

Marc, thank you for taking a chance on me. I appreciate your friendship, mentorship, and the confidence and passion you instilled in me to pursue this journey of teaching the greatest game ever invented.

I will always be grateful for the impact you’ve had on my life and career.

For those who may not know, Coach Kathy was an incredibly well-known and respected golf instructor at Brookside. She exemplified an unmatched work ethic and professionalism—setting a standard that all instructors should strive to follow.

We worked alongside each other for over 10 years—as part of the John Wells Golf Shop, as First Tee coaches, and as private instructors. I truly miss her charismatic, high-energy presence at Brookside. She had a way of lifting everyone around her and constantly inspired me to bring that same energy to the course.

Kathy, thank you for your friendship and for being such an incredible mentor during our time together. I’ve done my best to carry on the lessons and wisdom you shared with me, though I know I still have a long way to go.

Wishing you and your family nothing but happiness and good health. You will always be in my prayers.

God bless you, Kathy.

Training mode vs Performance mode

Most golfers blur it without realizing.

On the range, your job is to analyze, adjust, and build.
On the course, your job is to commit, react, and accept.

When you carry swing thoughts to the first tee, you’re essentially telling your brain:

“We’re still practicing.”

And the brain responds by tightening up, over-controlling, and chasing perfection—none of which hold up under pressure.

That’s why mid-round “fixes” almost always backfire. You’re interrupting flow and replacing trust with mechanics.

A cleaner way to think about it:

Range = mechanics + analyze + intention
Course = motion + trust + intention

Or even simpler:

Train it. Then play with it.

If something feels off during a round, the better move isn’t to fix—it’s to simplify:
Pick a target, feel one cue (tempo, rhythm, or shape), and swing.

The best players aren’t thinking more—they’re thinking less, but clearer.

We play golf like we’re still on the range.

And that’s why the ones who separate themselves…learn how to leave the range behind before they ever hit the first shot.
