If you’re formerly incarcerated/justice-system impacted and interested in a career in union construction, please join us to learn more about the APP program.

CLASS 54 ORIENTATION INFO:
🗓️Tuesday, August 25th or Thursday, August 27th
⏰9:00AM SHARP (or ideally a bit before)
📍236 W Mountain St Suite 117 (on the alley side of the building)

There will be a program overview presentation and the opportunity to meet and interview with a Flintridge staff member.

Skateboarding + career development 🛹🛹🛹

Today, Youth of Promise youth attended and volunteered at a youth-focused event hosted at DLAW, Inc. in Pasadena, organized in partnership with DLAW, Inc. and the Young Law Skate Project with Pokey.

Youth were able to skateboard, learn about legal topics and career opportunities, and learn about DLAW’s paid summer internship program. They also participated in resume-building activities, learned how to tie a tie, answered law-related questions, and earned raffle tickets for prizes.

We want to give a shoutout to our partners at Incarcerated Hearts ©️! 

In their own words, “Incarcerated Hearts is a support group for incarcerated men in relationships with a partner on the streets. Our mission is to offer support and insight on how to build a loving relationship while incarcerated, to promote rehabilitation through a loving relationship and navigating a relationship under the hard conditions of incarceration.”

Follow them as they share more about the incredible, impactful work they are doing inside San Quentin!

YOP Summer Success 2026 in the books! ☀️⚽️🥅🎨🔬🎥🍿

We were so happy to have families join us to celebrate the end of our Summer Success program with a park picnic last week. The past month has been filled with swimming, field trips, lots of soccer, art and more.

Summer Success also provided a work opportunity for our high school youth to participate in paid internships as they support the program, building their experience and skills.

We’re so grateful to have partnered with Adjoa Annang on these fun and impactful summer programs. 💜

APP Class 53 is complete—but the work is just getting started.

Congratulations to this group for graduating yesterday after ten weeks of pre-apprenticeship training. Ten weeks of investing in yourselves, your families, your futures. We can’t wait to see what’s next for all of you as you embark on your careers.

YOP Summer Success took a field trip to the USC NanoLab this week!🔬🥼💾

Youth learned from leading nanotechnology doctors, got a chance to create a nano chip app, and saw the lab up close. Thanks to USC for having us for an incredible STEM field trip!

Every week, the class has been supporting SGV Habitat for Humanity’s Altadena rebuild efforts while gaining hands on construction skills. Two weeks of class left for this group before they embark on their union career journey!

YOP Summer Success week one recap! ⏪☀️🌄

Swimming, hiking in Griffith Park, and lots of activities welcomed youth back to Summer Success! We’re so excited to have our YOP high schoolers supporting the program as interns, making Summer Success an experience for all of our youth. Looking forward to more adventures this week!
