Barbara joined us a while back, but a year ago she started to fight back against osteoporosis in her hips and osteopenia in her spine. Instead of backing down, she committed to real, progressive weightlifting. One year later, her latest scans show she is completely normal in her lower back, and the bone loss in her hips has stopped entirely.

When you lift heavy weights, your muscles pull directly on your bones, creating mechanical tension. This load triggers osteoblasts—the cells responsible for building bone—to draw in minerals like calcium and lay down fresh, dense bone tissue (a principle known as Wolff’s Law). Regular cardio or light movement simply cannot generate the force needed to spark this remodeling process. Progressive resistance training literally signals your body to reinforce its internal framework, reversing bone density loss where you need it most.

If you’re ready to build a stronger, more resilient body just like Barbara, start with our $149 Assessment. We will evaluate your current movement patterns, identify baseline strength, and map out a safe, personalized lifting plan tailored to your medical history and bone health goals.

Come check the Pro Shop at Strong Sports Gym. I'm clearing old inventory to make room for a full selection of casual athletic wear and accessories in the Spring. Didn't miss it in all the old styles.

Watch Emmett on his first set of low back squats. Incredible.

There’s a common myth that young children aren't ready for strength training because they don't know the technical jargon.

The truth? Young children can start lifting with progressive overload if they have proper coaching. Kids are movement sponges—they don't need a dictionary to learn great form, they just need the right cues.

Instead of telling a young athlete to "hinge at the hips," an expert coach tells them to "slam their chest down." Kids translate external cues into safe, precise mechanics instantly. They take technical instruction well because their nervous systems excel at visual and physical adaptation.

Progressive overload at this age isn't about heavy weights; it’s about mastering control, adding a clean rep, or perfecting tempo.

Young boys and girls build incredible movement literacy, safety habits, and athletic confidence long before they ever read a training book.

Want to accelerate your boxing growth? Treat sparring like play, not a war.

Learning through play is hands-down the fastest way to build real fight IQ and sharp reflexes. The goal in technical, controlled sparring isn't to knock your partner out—it's to explore, experiment, and refine your skills.

The secret lies in movement fidelity. Keep the mechanics real. Maintain 100% full-speed footwork, head movement, angles, and defensive timing.

Dial down the power: Pull back the speed and impact of your strikes to a fraction of full force.

Unfortunately, very few gyms implement this philosophy properly. All too often, controlled sessions devolve into ego-driven slugfests, creating an environment that fosters injury, fear, embarrassment, and eventual burnout.

When every practice is a battle for survival, fighters never have the space to truly experiment, resulting in poor skills and stagnant development.

By dialing back power while preserving realistic movement patterns, you create a safe environment where your brain can absorb information instead of just surviving. You get dozens of high-quality reps per round without the risk of concussions, injuries, or burnout—allowing you to train harder, smarter, and far more often.

If you want better longevity and sharper skills in the ring, leave the ego at the door and learn to flow.

Want maximum gains and faster recovery? Don't sleep on... well, sleep!

While complicated recovery strategies and massages are great, quality sleep is the ultimate, non-negotiable tool for tissue repair, muscle growth, and peak performance—no gadget or trend can replace it. In fact, sleep trackers often reduce the quality of sleep as create their own kind of stress.

Aim for 7–9 hours to keep your body performing at its absolute best.

Ready to take your recovery and performance to the next level? Claim our $149 Assessment today! We'll analyze your baseline, pinpoint recovery gaps, and build a custom plan tailored to your goals.
