The Black Belt Academy has moved again! We will be located at 4307 Red Bluff Rd., Pasadena, TX, 77503. However, the Black Belt Academy will only be able to offer classes on Saturdays at 11 am and 12 pm. Our classes at the new school will begin Saturday August 19, 2017 at 11 am. The staff at the Black Belt Academy / American Fitness and Martial Arts has changed the class schedule! On Friday July 29, 2016, American Fitness & Martial Arts is having a grand opening of their new dojo located at 4310 FM 646 Rd N, Santa Fe, Tx, 77510. The grand opening will run from 6 pm to 9 pm. Jimmy "Gato" Tabares will host a seminar from 7 pm to 8 pm. The advanced belt students of American Fitness & Martial Arts will also perform belt demonstrations. Everyone is welcome to attend the grand opening. BBQ will be available.

Our Trial Course goal is designed to show and train our new students on how to do the warm-ups, the proper way to do the “common moves” in all the arts, overall class overview and how to properly use the main training equipment during your class sessions. Special flyers on each of the martial arts are provided for as general information as well.

You will cover:
A) KICK BOXING (Fitness & Thai Boxing basic training).
B) TAE-KWON-DO (Korean Karate to earn a Black Belt).
C) KRAV MAGA (Fitness Street Protection and Combat Fitness).

Schedule: FREE ORIENTIONATION Classes For Beginners:
Monday @ 6 pm (25 min.) with Appointment.
Tuesday @ 7 pm (25 min.) without Appointment.

KRAV MAGA is an Israel fighting system that combines mental, technical, tactical, and physical training to increase one’s chances to prevail in dangerous predicaments and as a last resort--disable / inflict pain / win or run away to fight another day.

Training subject to cover:
A) Aggressive Opponents.
B) Knife Defenses.
C) Club Defenses.
D) More than one attacker.
E) Certifications in advancements as skills progress.
F) Combining Basic M.M.A. Fitness & conditioning routines.

BASIC CLASS FORMAT:

Tae Kwon Do is a modern system for children / adults of all ages. We have separate class times for each group. We use the Ancient Korea Weapon Arts to emphasize up-to-date strategies and belt levels to create a starting point for beginners to learn the art and then progress at their personal pace towards the BLACK BELT. It usually takes a minimum of 6 to 9 months to get proficient and develop the muscle-memory needed to able to defend yourself, so we also combine reviews and positive thinking to help the journey.

Training subjects cover:
A) Basic postures and application.
B) Solo routines for muscle memory.
C) Self-defense drills & pads / heavy bags for contact fitness.
D) Basic weapons responses & training drills.

Kick Boxing is a complete fitness program that tries to burn 500 calories & more a session. Plus it using martial arts teaching methods to progress students skills in the way that makes it a safe life-long method of combat fitness. All of the drills developed can be used for self-defense is the need arises. We will not be sparring in this category, but we do use lots of partner drills to keep everyone sharp and in great shape.

Physically do the “common moves” in steps and practice with the training equi pment at a slow pace. The outline is:
A) Instruction on the hand and foot strikes.
B) How we do the Bag-work.
C) Partner Drills (do’s & don’t’s for safety).
D) Pad weapons for variety.

After trying to negotiation a new lease agreement with the new owners, the Black Belt Academy staff has decided to move the school to 3222 Burke Rd, Pasadena, TX 77504. We're still having classes at our current address until we finish packing and moving everything. We are currently planning on starting classes at the new address in February. We'll let you know the exact date of when we move in after we finalize everything.
