Lost my mom but gained an angel.

Learned a lot from her. As I’m revisiting past memories…she taught me a lot.

My closest friends know that growing up wasn’t always easy and I had a hard time dealing with it all as I was younger.

I realize that all the years carrying resentment about some experiences hindered me from seeing lessons and finding gratitude for having her as my mom.

Now I can see though that every dark or difficult moment has a teaching.
-
I got to witness her in full vulnerability; the journey of living and battling addiction and overcoming it through the 12-steps for 5years before eventually reaching 10+ years sober.

I got to witness her practice courage, resilience, discipline, self-acceptance, self-forgiveness, self-love, self-awareness, and other tools that I try and integrate everyday.

Through that I got a glimpse of what it means to heal yourself so that you can reach a state of peace.

Grateful to have family and friends for support.
Grateful for plant medicine and how it showed me what I needed to let go of before she passed.

Grateful for my mom and all the lessons, love and acceptance she gave me growing up.

Rest easy mom. Thank you for being an incredible teacher and an amazing best friend.

Crazy how we don’t get taught about death enough. Then again I don’t think anything can prepare you for it and all that it brings to the surface.

Doing my best to sit with and be present with the waves of emotions and not neglect them.
