The waterfront got an upgrade ๐Ÿ˜

We don't know what to call it yet.

Our waterfront staff, folks in training, and maintenance crew spent the day mooring it, positioning it, and (uhh, purely for safety reasons) giving it a thorough test run.

Have a fun name idea? Drop it in the comments.

A week of lifeguard and water safety training wrapped up Friday. A week of staff teambuilding, coaching and training began yesterday. But first: mini-golf.

That's James with the thumbs-up. He grew up at West End House Camp and drove up from Framingham for staff training. Was driving the van to Conway within an hour.

Eddie (left) came from Colombia. Musician, teacher, swimmer. The kind of calm that makes other people slow down and think.

Tyler from England, third summer with us. Runs the office and knows where everything is and how it actually works.

Greg from Senegal, back for another summer. Just finished archery training. Funny, sharp, and has been working hard all week to get the property ready.

Seรกn from Ireland. Boxer, swimmer, waterfront. Quick with a joke.

Aiden from Spain, last with us 2023. Waterfront. Parkour! Shows up ready for whatever the day brings, usually grinning.

Your son meets these guys next Sunday.

Wake up Long Pond! It's time for camp.

In-water rescues. Spinal management. Distance swimming. Deep-water extractions. CPR scenarios that don't stop until everyone passes.

Our waterfront staff gets certified this week alongside guests from other Maine and New Hampshire camps. The safety work we do in June is what lets your son take carefully scaffolded risks in July: Swim further. Try water-skiing. Master the standup paddleboard.

Push himself, confident the counselor watching him will keep him safe.

Camp '26 is coming together! The new archery lean-to is up. The kitchen team is testing menus. International staff landed at Logan this week. Cabins are getting their final once-over before all the boys arrive June 28.

Getting a boy ready for camp is its own kind of work. It starts years before he packs a trunk, in the small moments you let him try something on his own. A first sleepover. A day somewhere new without you.

Rookie Day, July 18, is one of those days.

Boys ages 6 to 12 spend 9 AM to 4 PM paired with a Big Brother. Sports, electives, lunch with a cabin, waterfront. Parents tour camp and meet the directors. No cost.

Wake-up. Breakfast. Two morning activities. Lunch. Rest. Two more activities. Dinner. Evening activity. Cake and milk. Chill out in the cabin. Lights out.

Our bell rings the same way every day. Same supportive staff in their cabin every night. Same faces at the table.

When a boy knows what's coming, his body and mind stop bracing. He starts playing. He can learn and grow just by being.

ACA's research backs this up. Camp shows up in some compelling findings about stress reduction. Chronic childhood stress measurably interferes with how kids focus and learn (Carrion & Wong, 2012).

A predictable rhythm is how a summer here gives your son room to grow.

Music is a way in.

When a boy can name the feeling a song gives him, he learns to name his own. That is the start of emotional vocabulary. The start of knowing his mindset is something he can shape, not just something that happens to him.

This summer we're piloting a five-part music elective with the We Are All Music Foundation, a national effort backing youth mental health and social-emotional growth through music.

Campers will compose their own pieces and talk through them with a trained facilitator. The music is the doorway. The conversation, and the tools for modern manhood are the point.

Destination: Long Pond.

As you can see, we're at the mercy of Maine springtime weather. Sunday looks like the nicest day for a trip up if you'd like a personalized tour from our Director team.

Stand on the dock your son will cannonball off in July. See the cabin he'll come home from a little taller. Ask the questions you didn't know to ask until you were here.

The pontoon boat is in. Staff arrives in three weeks. We'd love for your son aged 7-15 to join us.

This late in the game, just text Jessica at 617-721-4316 to set a time.

Three meals a day. Two snacks. Cake and milk in the evening. Always multiple options on the table.

Our food service director comes from a high-end catering background and has spent years feeding the girls' camp next door. She knows how to make all kinds of eaters happy. Our shared goal in our mess hall is simple: every boy feels at home there.

That shows up in small ways. A second option when the first doesn't land. Knowing who might forget to eat. Remembering which boy won't touch the tomatoes.

Questions about food, allergies, or picky eaters? We'll go the extra mile to make your son thrive.
