Nobody knows everything.

That’s why we have professions dedicated to every area of life.

Dogs sick? Go to the vet.

Car doesn’t work? Visit the mechanic.

TV is broken? Go talk to the Geek Squad at Best Buy.

But for some reason lately people don’t seem to apply this logic to their health.

Don’t get me wrong, a personal trainer is a great investment for long term health.

But they’re not gonna save you from ending up in the hospital tomorrow if you’re one of the unlucky few.

No matter how much “sunlight, walking, and D3” you can pump into your body in a 24 hour period.

Find people who are experts that you can trust for things you don’t have the time or energy to learn about.

And maybe it’s just my personal preference, but when it comes to my health I’ll take an immunologist, virologist, or public health expert over a podcaster, politician or bio hacker every single day of the week.

Because I don’t have any time in the day to sort through the hundreds of studies that they do.

And I sure as s**t don’t trust a couple that a friend sent my way or that I saw on Facebook to confirm my uneducated (on that topic) beliefs.

So if you see someone who is clearly out of their scope preaching about how they know a better way then the majority of health professionals across the world, it’s pretty clear you should hit that unfollow button.

Because chances are, they’re just being contradictory to build their own presence. And they couldn’t give two 💩 about your health.

“I was at the gym for 2 hours today”

Is code for, I talked for an hour and a half and managed to get some sets done in between conversations.

No one can put out high effort, high quality movement for 2 hours.

If you hit the gym hard, get in, get out, in 30-45 minutes…

You will have insanely better results compared Chatter Box Cathy or Too Talkative Tommy.

As someone who has refused to actively watch the news for about the past 10 years, I can tell you…

You won’t miss out on anything.

Except for the stuff that drives you insane.

Because that’s what news companies rely on.

Emotions.

They want you to be pi**ed off and feel horrible.

Because you’ll keep coming back for more.

If something isn’t making your life better, get rid of it.

Fill your day with things that make it better.

Put on a movie that will make you laugh.

Spend more time with family.

Or create something positive to put out on social media.

Because there’s plenty of negative stuff out there already.

If you minimize or eliminate the negative stuff all together, you’ll have much less stress which could lead to improving things like:

- sleep
- your mood
- recovery from exercise
- relationships

So at the risk of feeling “uninformed” give this a try for a few days or a week.

See how you feel.

You may be amazed at the difference.

No matter how sexy it sounds…

No matter how effective it proclaims to be…

You usually won’t find anything new and useful in most diet books.

Everything that can help you achieve your fitness or body composition goals is already out there.

Stop looking for the new shiny toy that promises you the world.

Invest in books or other educational materials that improve:

- your ability to set healthy habits
- your mindset
- how to be more productive

Those books will work 100000x better than the latest one on keto.

Just get there.

Do a quick warmup and see how you feel.

9 times out of 10 you will tell yourself:
“damn I feel better than I thought. I can do this”

And the more you do that the less those excuses in your head multiply.

That first step is the hardest, but it will make not following through that much harder.

Whenever you’re in pain it’s always best to see a professional like a physical therapist or your doc so they can point you in the right direction.

But you’d be amazed at how some things just magically clear up when you find an exercise variation that doesn’t hurt.

There is not a single exercise in the world that you HAVE to do.

So get creative and find the ones that work best for your anatomy, injury history, & life style.

Or hire someone that can help you figure that out.

Once you find that combo of exercises that are best for you, that’s when you get to experience feeling better with every session.

Rather than feeling like you need to go straight for the Advil.

There is no middle ground here.

You’re either moving or not moving.

Eating mostly the right foods or the wrong foods.

Getting adequate sleep or not getting enough.

Inaction and being passive about your health and fitness just puts off paying the bill for now.

Eventually life is gonna be like a pi**ed off waiter and slam the check on your table.

“Eat all your food.”

There are starving kids in _________ that would love to eat this right now.

News flash: those kids aren’t gonna eat a damn thing whether it ends up in your mouth or in the trash.

So let’s stop justifying it.

If you aren’t hungry, don’t eat it.

Especially out of guilt.

And if you feel bad because there’s so much left, then buy the smaller bag or individual sized bags next time.

At the end of the day, that small amount of $$$ you sacrifice by throwing it out will save you money down the road.

Because you will be healthier for it.

“Oh I’m too old for that” usually never holds any water.

It’s more likely a comfortable excuse that has been used over and over again.

I know I’m a guy in his 20s and you could be thinking “just wait til he’s my age.”

But I’ve trained a ton of clients in their 50s, 60s, 70s and some even older.

And not a single one was unable to resistance train.

All of them felt stronger and felt more energized when they did.

It’s all about finding the exercises that work for you.

And if you’re concerned about getting hurt, finding a quality trainer can be one of the best investments you could possibly make.

You’re at home moving boxes, picking up groceries, sitting down on the toilet.

Thats a hinge, carry, and squat.

No excuses.
