Wow, what a year! I launched my bicycle business six months ago, hoping to lend a hand to my neighbors and friends by providing a cozy spot for them to bring their bikes, so they wouldn’t have to travel to the bike shop. Within a month, I was receiving bicycles from all over my area. I was meeting some wonderful people and hearing their incredible bike stories. I truly enjoy working on bicycles, so fixing their bikes and seeing their gratitude was the best part for me. To my customers, thank you for making this a wonderful year, and I’m looking forward to seeing you next year. Happy New Year!

Hey there! Have you ever thought about riding your bike through the warm, sunny Florida winter? It’s like a dream come true! While everyone else is bundled up against the cold, I can just glide along, feeling the gentle breeze on my face and the warm sunshine on my skin.

The cool breeze carries the salty scent of the ocean as I pedal along the palm-lined paths. The rhythmic sound of my tires on the pavement is like my own little music, and I can hear the birds calling out in the distance. It’s like nature itself is singing a song just for me.

Biking here isn’t just about getting some exercise; it’s about escaping the hustle and bustle of everyday life and connecting with nature. It’s a way to appreciate the beauty of a Florida winter, and I feel a sense of freedom that I can’t find anywhere else.

So, while others are shoveling snow, I’ll be here, enjoying the endless summer on two wheels. And if you’re looking for a fun way to spend a holiday, why not join a friend for a ride through the neighborhoods? Where you can check out the holiday displays and have a great time together.

If your bike needs a little tune-up to make these moments even better, don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m here to help you make sure your bike is ready for the adventure ahead.

This guide should be of great assistance for individuals seeking to determine the essential tools required for all bicycle rides.
Essential Tools:
1. Spare Tire Inner Tubes: Always carry one spare tire inner tube, and ensure it matches your tire size. The valve stem should be compatible, and the valve stem should be sufficiently long to accommodate your rim depth. If rarely needed, store them in a plastic bag.
2. Tire Pump or Air Cartage: Consider using a compact tire pump or an air cartage. While minipumps are convenient, they require significant effort to inflate and are relatively slow. CO2 cartridges offer a more efficient option. Ensure you obtain the correct volume for your spare tube, typically ranging from 12 to 16 grams, depending on the tire size (e.g., road vs. mountain tires). Verify that your equipment matches the valve stem (Presta or Schrader).
3. Plastic Tire Levers: At least two or three plastic tire levers are essential for changing tires.
4. Small Patch Kit: A well-stocked patch kit can last approximately one year if not frequently used.
5. Multi-Tool: A reliable multi-tool with a Torx T25 key for disk brakes is highly recommended.
6. Pre-1980s Bikes: If you own a pre-1980s bicycle, consider bringing an 8mm and 10mm open-end wrench.
7. Clip-on Tail Light: A compact clip-on tail light is essential for visibility during nighttime rides.
8. Front Headlight with Flashing Options: A front headlight with flashing options provides enhanced visibility and safety.
9. Water Bottle: Staying hydrated is crucial during cycling. Carry a water bottle to ensure you have enough water.
10. Storage Bag: Choose a suitable storage bag to organize and transport all your cycling gear. Remember to consider the space for snacks, as they are essential for sustained energy levels.
Optional Items:
1. Cash
2. GPS Computer
3. Cell Phone
4. Rain Gear
5. Spoke Wrench
6. 15mm Pedal Wrench with Headset Wrench
7. Duct Tape
8. Chain Lubricant

By following these guidelines, you can ensure that you have the necessary tools for safe and enjoyable bicycle rides. is informative, feel free to contact me if you need part numbers or more information.

A customer brought in his bike and complained that it felt sluggish while pedaling and made a clicking sound. I noticed that the bottom bracket was loose and the crank had signs of wear. Wow, this was a real project! Whoever tightened the pedal crank had way over tightened the bottom bracket axle and it took a while to loosen them. Once the arms were off, the bearings were pitted and filled with dirt. I removed the old grease and dirt, replaced the bearings, added new grease, and torqued everything to specifications. The bottom bracket is much happier now!

Now that the crank was smooth, I noticed the clicking sound. It was coming from the chain - any guesses why? It turns out the owner replaced the freewheel with a new wheel with a cassette and thought the chain looked good enough to reuse. The chain was about 50% worn, but with a new cassette, the chain was worn just enough to not seat properly in the new cogs. When I replace a chain; one of my favorite things is removing the accumulation of dirt and oil from the derailleur jockey wheels - it’s a thing. Now no more clicking, it’s like a new bike!

When I look at bikes, I often see corroded wheel spokes from the salt in the air. It seems like everything here is salty, especially the moisture in the air around all the water areas. Bicycle spokes are under a lot of tension, and corrosion slowly weakens them, causing them to break or “pop.” Usually, it’s not a big deal to fix, but sometimes when they “pop,” the spokes can get wrapped up in your wheel, and you can lose several of them. That can make your bike wheel stop working. To fix this, just lightly rinse your bike off and let it dry. Humidity is another topic; if you’re interested in water damage remedies, let me know.
