MEET ALEX WALTER — FOUNDER & OWNER

“Thundercloud Gun Club started with a simple idea: create a place where people could enjoy the outdoors, spend time with friends and family, and experience the traditions of hunting and sporting in a setting that felt truly special.

I grew up in Tampa and have always had a strong connection to the outdoors. Hunting, shooting, fishing, and spending time in the woods have been a big part of my life. Over the years, I also developed a career in real estate, construction, and hospitality. Those experiences eventually came together in the idea for Thundercloud.

I opened Thundercloud Gun Club in 2022 with a vision that went beyond building a shooting facility. I wanted to create a genuine sporting club — a place where the quality of the land, the experience, the food, the hospitality, and most importantly, the people all mattered.

Today, my role is a little bit of everything. I spend a lot of time thinking about where the club is going, working with our team, talking with members, developing new experiences, and making sure we stay true to what we set out to build.

But probably the part I enjoy most is seeing members make Thundercloud their own — whether that’s introducing a friend to sporting clays, spending a morning hunting quail, hosting a client, or simply sitting around the lodge after a day outside.

We’re still relatively young as a club, and I think that’s one of the exciting things about Thundercloud. We’re building something for the long term, with a lot of respect for the traditions that came before us.

At the end of the day, my goal is pretty simple: build a club that I’m proud to be a member of myself, and create a place that people look forward to coming back to year after year.”

Every day is Dog Day here at TGC. 🐾

Dogs have always been an important part of the sporting lifestyle, and at Thundercloud Gun Club, they’re just as much a part of the experience as the people beside them.

From early mornings in the field and afternoons spent training to riding around the property and relaxing after a day outdoors, our four-legged companions are never far behind. They’re trusted hunting partners, hardworking retrievers, loyal companions, and, most importantly, part of the family.

At TGC, we’re proud to be a place where members can enjoy the traditions they love alongside the dogs that make those moments even better.

Because around here, Dog Day isn’t just once a year. It’s every day!

There’s a little bit of everything at TGC, and that’s exactly how we like it.

From sporting clays to precision shooting, specialty events, and days spent outside with the whole family, there’s always something to get involved in. Some days you’re behind the gun, other days you’re behind the spotting scope, and sometimes you’re just along for the experience.

TGC has always been about more than having a place to shoot. It’s about creating a place where families can spend time together, kids can learn, friendships are made, and the next generation can grow up with an appreciation for the outdoors and shooting sports.

Thundercloud’s Tip of the Month -

“Playing fetch is about more than burning off a little extra energy. It’s an easy way to keep your dog conditioned, engaged, and sharp leading into the season.

Every retrieve is an opportunity to reinforce the fundamentals: a clean pickup, a good hold, a direct return, and delivering the bird to hand. Keeping those skills fresh during everyday play can make a big difference when it’s time to put them to work in the field.

The season may not be here quite yet, but the work you put in now is what helps make those first hunts back that much better.

Keep them moving. Keep it fun. And never stop reinforcing the basics.”

Lightning Strike is officially underway at TGC! ⚡️

The course is hot, the competition is even hotter, and everyone came ready to shoot. There’s no better way to kick off a weekend in Florida than 100 clays, a little friendly competition, and a morning on the course.

Good luck to everyone today. Let’s see who comes out on top!
