More Than Football. More Than a Team.

Yesterday, the Normandy Invaders Football Team had an incredible opportunity to work alongside the Down Syndrome Association of Northeast Ohio, Sunburst Snacks, A Place 2B Me, and the Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities!

Sunburst Snacks is a wonderful employment initiative that provides individuals with Down syndrome, with meaningful employment opportunities while helping them develop valuable job skills, build confidence, and gain independence. From shopping for supplies and selecting products to assembling snack boxes, packaging orders, and learning about sales and customer service, the program provides hands-on experience in different aspects of running a business.

Our players had the opportunity to work side by side with the Sunburst Snacks team, helping assemble snack boxes that we will actually be using for our upcoming football team meals and game days!

After joining us for our Team Meal, we had the pleasure of gifting some of our retired Normandy football jerseys to our new friends so they could officially become part of the Invaders Family!

But our collaboration doesn't end there!

We're excited to share that Sunburst Snacks will be joining us at the Normandy vs. Valley Forge JV Football game on Thursday, October 22nd! They'll have a table set up where you can purchase their snack boxes for just $5.00 each!

Even better? The money from every box purchased goes directly back to supporting the Sunburst Snacks program and the individuals involved! We encourage our Normandy and Valley Forge families, friends, and community members to stop by, meet these amazing individuals, and support a program that's making a difference right here in Northeast Ohio.

We're proud to welcome some new members into our Invaders Family, and we look forward to continuing this partnership!

At our last team meal, we had two great speakers. Mr. Silva, a biology teacher at Normandy told the players about his time and love for football. And Steven Samiljlenko, one of the captains from the 2007 team that went to the playoffs and beat Massillon shared the importance of the Seniors and building a team/family.
