Wow is all we can say! Tuna fishing is still absolutely as good as it gets and yesterday's trip was no exception! Hand feeding them and watching them blow up in your slick never gets old! Brought back 14 yesterday and could of caught 30 if we wanted to keep going. HIGHLY recommend getting out now if you have the time to get away. We were fortunate enough to be able to tuna fish this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with many many tuna coming to the Finatic! Fishing is as good as it gets right now. Today's fluke trip started off slow with almost no drift so the guys decided to switch it up and go Mahi fishing. They made the right call! Once we found the right pot it was great action until we finished up! In the end turned a slow trip into an exciting first time experience for most on board with plenty of fillets to take home.

Guys decided to take a chance on the weather today with hopes of great fishing and boy was it worth it! Little lumpy ride but not actually that bad and the guys were rewarded with a haul of 13 nice sized yellowfin and the fishing grounds mostly to ourselves. We left them with fish still feeding in our slick was absolutely awesome bite today! Fall season is really shaping up! Check availability on Finaticnj.com or give us a call. Time is running out!

Got out for a little fluke fishing yesterday and was greeted with pretty good fishing with fish up to 23". The last day of Summer flounder fishing is September 25th so there isn't much time left if you wanted to get out! Finished up fishing the MRMTC Offshore Open. Had a great time fishing the event and went in targeting that big fish bite over numbers like usual. On day 1 we got the bite we needed. Definite big eyeball way east of the usual spots. A tackle failure on a brand new lure allowed this fish to swim away unfortunately. Was a true giant. Just wasn't our day it happens. We kept our heads up and kept on keeping on like we always do but after that big bite only 40 to 50lb longfin until it was time to go home. We could of loaded the boat with them there was absolutely no shortage but they weren't the fish we needed to check. Tried a few areas loaded with yellowfin for the Calcutta but they wouldn't eat no matter what we tried so hit some Mahi pots on the way home for the last Calcutta. Pots were loaded but we never got the size we needed. Good size mahi but not tournament size Mahi. Ready to get back to our trips and put some meat in the box but definitely was a great time had by all. There's no shortage of tuna out there so if you're waiting to get a date in get it in now! Great time at the MRMTC Offshore open captains meeting and kickoff party last night. Great food drinks and music and even came home with a few prizes! Looking forward to fishing this tournament this week! Steven Meltreder

Another great weekend on the water! Saturday's tuna trip founds lots of life on the midshore grounds with whales, birds, lots of bait and scattered tuna marks around. We jigged the marks for a while with no bites until we decided to full send to the canyons. Getting to the canyons we were greated by plenty of bird life giving away the tuna beneath were we quickly hooked 2 yellowfin on jigs before the bite died down. We looked around for a bit jigged a few areas and decided to go on the troll. Not long after dragging lines we doubled up on bigeye unfortunately losing both, one wasn't hooked well on a ballyhoo and the other we lost due to a line failure. We continued working looking for another feed when we found birds working miles off, quickly bringing in the spread we ran to them where my Dennis Lannigan hooked a bigeye on a Bluewater tackle jig. An hour and a half later on spinning gear the fish came over the rail and went into ice for our cruise west!
Sunday's fluke trip started out with a great bite catching many many just barely short fluke, 4 keeper fluke and 2 trigger fish before the south wind kicked up and killed the bite. After the wind started it slowed down dramatically and half committed bites led to many lost fish. Not the great fluke fishing we've been experiencing but not bad by any means.

Fluke fishing has been absolutely off the charts! Today's trip had a full boat limit of seabass and fluke by 11am and was culling 18.5" fish from the live well! It's a good day of fluking when you're sending 18.5" fish back. Biggest fish today came in at 25.5" by Dave Engel

Another weekend of great tuna fishing! Headed offshore at 3am and got to the grounds to find whales, dolphins and birds for miles! We jigged tuna and a couple of sharks until the feed died off and we trolled the rest until it was time to head home!
