Denver’s premier traditional Chinese martial arts tournament, will take place on October 2-4, 2026, at the CU Denver Student Wellness Center in Denver, Colorado. Partnering with USA Shaolin Open, this event is open to competitors of all ages and skill levels, bringing together martial arts practitioners from across the Rocky Mountain region to celebrate traditional forms, sparring, and weapons disciplines.

This event can qualify athletes to become a part of the USAWKF Kungfu Team. Members of the kungfu team are eligible to participate in the 11th World Kungfu Championships (2027) and the 6th Pan American Kungfu Championships (2028).

The 2026 World Wushu Open Championships (WWOC) and USAWKF Kungfu Team Trials will take place from September 5 to September 6, 2026.

This competition includes a kungfu team trial which will be the last qualifying event for athletes to join the US team at the 5th Pan American Kungfu & Taijiquan Championships in Argentina this October, and also qualifying event for the 11th World Kungfu Championships in 2027.

The 2026 USA International Martial Arts Championships is a premier competition dedicated to promoting traditional and contemporary Chinese martial arts. Registration opens August 1 for the 2026 USAWKF Taijiquan Coach Certification Training, a new online certification program designed to support the development of qualified taijiquan coaches across the United States. Learn from renowned national and international taijiquan instructors—all from the comfort of your own home. The course combines coaching methodology with technical refinement to help coaches build the knowledge and skills needed for effective instruction.

The program features a three-level coaching pathway (Community Coach, Development Coach, and Performance Coach), allowing participants to enter at the level that best matches their experience and continue advancing their coaching credentials over time. Whether you teach community wellness classes, coach competitive athletes, or are looking to strengthen your instructional skills, this certification provides a structured pathway for professional growth. The registration deadline for the 2026 USAWKF National Kungfu Championships & National Rankings has been extended to Sunday, July 26, 2026.

This extension gives qualified USAWKF National Team athletes additional time to register for the opportunity to compete for the USAWKF National Champion title and earn a place in the National Rankings among the country's top kungfu athletes. The event will be held August 8–9, 2026, in Houston, Texas.

Registration for Longhorn championships, kungfu team trials and all seminars has also been extended until July 26.

The inaugural Adult Beginner Sanda Technical Sparring division at the 2026 Presidential Wushu Cup on June 27th, 2026, was a success!!!

"The Adult Beginner Sanda Technical Sparring division was developed as a collaborative idea between Mark Lorenzo and me (Justin Benedik) with the goal of making sanda more accessible to newcomers. We recognized that many people are interested in trying sanda but are hesitant to enter full-contact competition without first gaining experience in a competitive environment.

When we introduced the division at the Presidential Wushu Cup, our objective was to create a safe, welcoming, and technically focused entry point where adult beginners could develop confidence, learn competition procedures, and apply fundamental skills without the intensity of a full-contact bout. The emphasis is on proper technique, control, sportsmanship, and education, allowing participants to experience the excitement of competition while continuing to build their skills.

We believe beginner-friendly events like this are an important part of growing the sport. By lowering the barrier to entry, we can encourage more practitioners from traditional kung fu schools, taolu programs, and the broader martial arts community to experience sanda. Our hope is that Technical Sparring serves as a stepping stone that helps develop future sanda athletes while making competition more approachable and enjoyable for everyone.

The successful introduction of the Adult Beginner Sanda Technical Sparring division at the Presidential Wushu Cup demonstrated that there is strong interest in this type of event. We hope it can continue to be expanded and promoted throughout USAWKF competitions as another pathway for introducing new athletes to the sport and strengthening the future of American sanda."
