Wushu—Road to Dakar 2026

The United States of America Wushu-Kungfu Federation (USAWKF), is proud to announce that Marshall Brayton has been selected to represent USAWKF as a member of Team USA in Wushu Taijiquan at the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Senegal, alongside his renowned Wushu Coach, Jiamin Gao

This selection marks an extraordinary milestone not only in Marshall’s athletic journey, but also for the development and visibility of Wushu and Taijiquan in the United States.

The Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games will mark Wushu’s debut as an official medal sport! It will give Wushu an enormous global presence and the spotlight it deserves to shine on the world stage.

For Marshall, earning a place on Team USA represents countless hours of training, competition, preparation, and perseverance. Marshall’s journey has been supported by his renowned coach, Champion Athlete herself, Jiamin Gao, his family, teammates and broader wushu community.

From the training floor to the world stage, Marshall is ready to represent Team USA, American Wushu, and Taijiquan in Dakar!

We are excited to announce that Final Registration for the 15th Pan American Wushu Championships (PAWC) and 5th Pan American Kungfu & Taijiquan Championships (PAKTC) has officially been completed!

With 15 countries registered, nearly 900 athletes competing across both championships, and more than 1,300 total delegates, this will be the largest Pan American wushu event to date. We are especially proud that Team USA will be the largest participating country, with 247 athletes and a total delegation of 471!

We are incredibly proud of our USAWKF athletes, coaches, officials, and delegation members who will represent the United States in Buenos Aires. We look forward to seeing everyone in Argentina!

Denver’s premier traditional Chinese martial arts tournament, will take place on October 2-4, 2026, at the CU Denver Student Wellness Center in Denver, Colorado. Partnering with USA Shaolin Open, this event is open to competitors of all ages and skill levels, bringing together martial arts practitioners from across the Rocky Mountain region to celebrate traditional forms, sparring, and weapons disciplines.

This event can qualify athletes to become a part of the USAWKF Kungfu Team. Members of the kungfu team are eligible to participate in the 11th World Kungfu Championships (2027) and the 6th Pan American Kungfu Championships (2028).

USAWKF is pleased to announce the upcoming National Sanda Coach Certification Course, offering coaches an opportunity to strengthen their technical knowledge, coaching skills, and athlete development methods. The course will be led by Coach Ian Lee and will cover key areas of Sanda coaching, from fundamentals and technical skills to competition preparation and long-term athlete development.

Course topics include Sanda fundamentals and technical skills, transitioning from traditional martial arts to Sanda, offensive and defensive tactics, sparring and coaching methodology, competition preparation and performance training, and athlete development.

In conjunction with the competition weekend, USAWKF successfully hosted its first-ever Kungfu Judges Certification Course, alongside a Sanda Judges Certification Course, on August 6–7. The landmark kungfu course provided comprehensive training and examination in traditional competition rules, judging principles, and technical evaluation. All 11 participants successfully completed the curriculum to earn their USAWKF Kungfu Judge certification. Additionally, we are proud to welcome two newly certified Sanda judges to our national officiating roster.

New Certified Kungfu Judges:

Genming Liu, Lian Walker, Qingbin Chen, Pauline Bautista, Anthony Nguyen, Zhenlong Yu, Mark Rinkerman, Yanzhen Yue, Fangzhen Liu, Yanmei Liu, and Jian Wang.

Congratulations to all the athletes who competed at the 2026 USAWKF National Kungfu Championships and National Rankings in Houston! The event brought together some of the best kungfu athletes from across the country, creating a strong and competitive field across multiple divisions.

We are proud of everyone who stepped onto the competition floor and put their training, dedication, and skills to the test. Congratulations to all of the athletes who earned a place in the 2026 USAWKF National Rankings! Your results reflect the hard work you have put in throughout the season and your commitment to continued growth in kungfu.

We would also like to congratulate the Longhorn International Wushu Championships on the successful completion of its inaugural event. The event was a great addition to the USAWKF competition calendar. Thank you to the organizers, officials, coaches, volunteers, and athletes who helped make the event a success.
