12 years ago, a group of passionate lacrosse leaders came together with a simple goal: create a community-focused program where player development came first.
HLC was founded by Sue Bowen, Bobby Martino, Bill Pisano, Wingate Pritchett, Alan Seider, and Corey Williams. HLC was built on the belief that athletes deserve exceptional coaching, strong values, and an opportunity to grow in a positive environment without placing an unnecessary financial burden on families.
Over the years, that vision has grown into two thriving programs, serving hundreds of athletes throughout our community.
Today, we are excited to share an important milestone in that journey.
Beginning July 1, the HLC name will be retired as Gunpowder Lacrosse and Limelight Lacrosse begin transitioning into two independent organizations.
This transition reflects the tremendous growth and success of both programs. What started as one organization has evolved into two strong communities, each with its own identity, leadership, and future.
Both organizations will continue operating as nonprofit programs with a commitment to delivering high-quality player development while keeping costs as affordable as possible. We remain under Hereford Zone Recreation & Parks communities and are grateful for their continued support.
Most importantly, this transition is rooted in growth, not separation.
Both Limelight and Gunpowder remain deeply committed to supporting families and ensuring the program continues to grow, compete, and thrive for many years to come. The friendships, relationships, and shared history between our organizations remain strong. We are incredibly proud of everything that has been built together over the past 12 years and excited for what lies ahead.
As we close the chapter on HLC, we do so with gratitude for everyone who helped build it and excitement for the future of both programs. The name may be changing, but the mission remains the same: Develop great players, Build great teammates, Strengthen our community & Grow the game.
