As we age, if we are not maintaining these developmental responses we may present with dysfunction or vestibular weakness.
If we think of our vestibular and balance ability like a muscle and keep training our fall responses then we are more likely to be able to stay upright on unstable surfaces, have a good understanding where our feet are meant to land without looking at them and are less likely to fall over.
Pilates exercises are born from primal and functional movements and as a pilates professional, I don't just teach exercises.. I improve lives with my knowledge

Lets bust a few myths about pilates...

#1 "Pilates is the same as yoga"
They may be best friends but they are not the same! Pilates is
very science based. They are similar in that they both promote
a mind body connection but how they do that is quite different.
Most importantly, the breathing is completely different.

#2 "Pilates is for small skinny people"
simply not true...it is for EVERY BODY and every body type! You
do not need to lose weight before starting pilates...the sooner
you start the sooner you will see amazing benefits

#3. "Pilates is only for flexible people"
Actually, it is the other way around! You get more flexible when
you do pilates. All of the exercises are designed to make you
more flexible and stronger in the most balanced, safest and
fasted way. Pilates is a great adjunct to any other form of
exercise you do!

#4. "pilates is too easy"
Pilates is only easy if you are doing the exercises incorrectly.
When done correctly, you should feel challenged and
energized..You need to understand how to engage your
deepest core muscles to obtain the most benefits.

Mental and Physical strength comes from determination and mind body connection...if you believe you can do it then you can! Pilates mat works all of the smallest muscles in the body...nothing is overlooked! It is a complete workout and I promise you that in the end you will see results and your body will thank you! Joseph Pilates most famous quote "after 10 sessions you will feel different, after 20 sessions you will look different and after 30 sessions you will change your body forever"... what are you waiting for?

It has been a while since I have posted on this page, I tend to post on my personal page a lot more (you can visit my personal page Ellen Hofmann). As this year comes to a close, I must say there is always a silver lining! For me, and my students, the silver lining is the new way we do class. Zoom has been so fabulous and has allowed many of my students who now live far away to take class regularly, as well as my local regulars.
