I’ve taught a lot of trainings over the years.
Some in cozy classrooms.
Some in loud gymnasiums.
Some on Zoom screens where half the cameras are off.
But no matter where I go, I always ask the same question at the start…
“Who’s here because this was required?”
And nearly every time—hands go up.
I get it.
We work in a field full of requirements.
Licensing, QRIS, state systems… they all have boxes to check.
Professional development hours are one of them.
But here’s what I know…
Just because something is required doesn’t mean it has to feel like a waste of time.
And just because you didn’t choose to be there doesn’t mean you can’t choose what you take from it.
So every time I teach, whether it’s a state-mandated course or a local workshop, I start by acknowledging the weight of that.
And then I offer an invitation…
What if we make this meaningful, anyway?
What if something in this next hour sparks a shift?
A new idea.
A fresh perspective.
A question that stays with you through the week.
My goal is never to impress.
It’s to connect.
To help you walk away with one thing that you can take back into your classroom, your leadership, your coaching practice and use right away.
Because I’ve sat in those trainings too.
The ones that felt like a checkbox.
And I promised myself that if I ever had the mic, I’d do it differently.
So that’s what I’m building now.
Something for early childhood educators, leaders and coaches that honors your time, your effort, and your expertise.
Something that doesn’t feel like one more thing—but the right thing, at the right time.
It’s coming soon.
And I can’t wait to share it with you.
