The Parkersburg News and Sentinel Half Marathon Visit newsandsentinelhalfmarathon.com to register The half marathon race begins in downtown Parkersburg at 8 a.m. and the two-mile will immediately follow.

The half marathon course will take you out of the city and into the scenic surroundings of W.Va. before looping back into the commercial area. You will finish the race to the cheers of thousands of spectators lined up on Market Street prior to the Parkersburg Homecoming Festival Parade. The minimum age to participate is 15. There is no race day registration

After their struggles during the spring track season, the top two finishers in the female division for Saturday’s Parkersburg News and Sentinel two-mile race turned their fortunes around in time for the start of the new school year.

Warren High School junior Ashlee Pate successfully defended her title by covering the course in a time of 12 minutes,. 39 seconds – a mere two seconds faster than runner-up of Parkersburg South incoming freshman Haley R***r. https://www.newsandsentinelhalfmarathon.com/2025/08/16/two-mile-warrens-ashlee-pate-edges-parkersburg-souths-hannah-raper-to-defend-title/
