Heart & Veil was delighted to participate in the inaugural MOV Fitness Expo, which took place today. The event drew a substantial turnout of vendors and attendees, and it is anticipated to become even more successful in the future.
As scheduled, H&V presented a belly dance demonstration. Deborah, a certified personal trainer, delivered a compelling presentation on the benefits of belly dance, highlighting its focus on muscle isolation and development, as well as its positive impact on cognitive function. Josie led an engaging audience participation segment, teaching a short combination and then performing it with everyone to music. The participants demonstrated impressive dancing skills and seemed to have a great time. Deborah's sword balancing act was a hit with both children and adults. After initial hesitation from some of the younger participants, Deborah reassured them that the blade was not sharp, and they were able to enjoy the experience. It was thrilling!
Deborah and I also discussed H&V's involvement in Shimmy Mob with the attendees. Our members are preparing for the worldwide event on World Belly Dance Day next Saturday in support of our local domestic violence shelter, Family Crisis Intervention Center. We invite you to join us for our performance at 10am at Point Park Amphitheater and would love to collect any donations for the shelter from audience members. Heart & Veil classes are on Friday evenings at the Belpre location of Fitness With Phyllis which also Shimmy Mob’s sponsor.
Heart & Veil would like to express our sincere appreciation to the MOV Fitness Expo organizers for inviting us to participate. We look forward to future events.
