Voodoo Child
2020, 16.1hh Dark Bay Thoroughbred Mare
Voodoo Child is an exciting young jumper prospect with all the pieces to be a very competitive horse in the right program. Never raced, this elegant dark bay mare has a naturally balanced canter, an impressive jump, and is already showing green lead changes on course. She is brave, athletic, and incredibly fun to ride with plenty of scope for the future.
Being in only 6, Voodoo Child is still developing and does best with a rider who is patient, confident, and interested in continuing her education. She can have some “wiggles” and benefits from consistent work, thriving in a program where she is ridden 5–6 days a week. She has been used in lessons with a variety of riders and has shown she can adapt well with guidance.
On the ground, she does require patience and consistent handling, but she is a smart mare who continues to improve with routine and structure. She could easily be brought along by a competent adult amateur or junior working with a trainer.
Voodoo Child has been pinfired up front. Her legs are currently cold and tight, and she has not presented any soundness concerns in our program. She does have a slight paddle, but it does not affect her athleticism or willingness to work.
This is a quality young mare with a huge amount of potential for someone wanting to develop a talented jumper from the ground up.
