SCHEDULE CHANGE:
Due to forecasted snow, the upcoming closure at US 85 and C-470 has been postponed one day.

Around-the-clock work, detours and closures will take place from 7 p.m. Friday, March 8, until 5:30 a.m. Thursday, March 14.

🚧 Drivers - Please plan to use alternate routes to get around C-470 and US 85 (Santa Fe Drive) in Highlands Ranch next weekend. 🚧

Around-the-clock work, detours and closures will take place from 7 p.m. Thursday, March 7, until 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 13. For the safety of crews and the traveling public, there will be no C-470 access to or from US 85, and through traffic on C-470 will be delayed as crews demolish the old US 85 bridge over C-470. A local detour will be in place for northbound and southbound US 85 traffic at C-470 and for access to C-470.

It all sounds so simple when put like this 😁

The basis of good riding can be said to be the absence of bad riding---

The Roots Of Bad Riding---Here’s a list, not necessarily in order of magnitude, because it will vary rider to rider.

1.Poor balance. Horses move. If the rider moves in harmony with the movements of the horse, that is the start of good riding. But if the rider is unbalanced and moves counter to the way the horse moves, it will be bad until or unless the rider can fix that.

2. Tension. Where? Hands, arms, fingers, hips, pelvis, torso, neck, jaw, legs, knees, toes, ankles, feet.

3.Fear/apprehension. Fear creates tension/rigidity, and tension leads to lack of balance.

4. Anger, need for dominance. An angry rider is a bad rider.

5. A rider lack of fitness and overall general athleticism. Lithe supple riders who are strong and fit can more easily be harmonious riders.

6. A disregard/disdain for the precepts of correct equitation. The rider just doesn't care.

SO---To avoid bad riding, be calm and friendly to horses, be fit and agile, ride horses that don’t scare you, learn how to find balance by lots of practice, learn how to give basic rein and leg and body aids.

This process might take as little as a year, or it might take a lifetime. It depends on so many variables.

At my favorite restaurant in Halifax..The Bicycle Thief..they make an amazing lobster roll. I have it without bread which is a pity in some ways but it allows me to have more cider to drink so it's all good!!❤️😁... Can't ask for more, beautiful day, gorgeous weather and fabulous food🤩

Crazy day yesterday, my house is about a mile north of the tornado line. We got lucky, only lost a window and gained a neighbor's tree in the backyard. Lots of debris scattered around but no injuries 😁 A tornado in Highlands Ranch was not on this year's bingo card 😳🌪️⛈️ 😝

Gotta love Colorado....🥶😂 My first race of the year was today, a short Duathlon which is a "2K run/17K bike/5K run" race and in true Colorado style, spring weather went completely back into winter mode. ❄️🥶❄️ It truly was an adventure with icy conditions and snow that got worse as the morning went on. My bike gears and brakes iced over and the back of my hands had a nice ice layer over my gloves as I rode the bike course. When I started the last leg of the run, I couldn't feel my feet and my fingers were numb. I did warm up some after I got more into that last run which was a relief!! 😂 The hot chocolate we got as we finished never tasted as good ❤️
Have to say though I had a ton of fun and it was a blast even when my brain was saying "WTF!! Why are we doing this!?!? 😳"....I definitely want to do this type of race again but OMG in some warmer weather please!!🥶🥶🤦🌞🌞 😁😁

I got my new custom winter Kinsley boots!! Lined with sheepskin and in a deep deep blue, they are just scrumptious and elegant. Thank you Annika Shaulis for excellent measuring skills and Ericka Gross and Happy Horse Tack. ❤️❤️🥰😎
