Here is your Scholar Bowl question of the week!

Calcium copper titanate is a particularly strong one of these materials due to a grain boundary. Energy dissipation in these materials is quantified by the loss tangent. Implicit models of solvation treat the solvent as one of these materials, which name a quantity used to measure solvent polarity. The namesake "strength" of these materials is measured in volts per meter and gives the applied field needed to make them conduct above the breakdown voltage. A quantity named for these materials is also called "relative permittivity" and is multiplied by epsilon-naught times area over distance in the parallel-plate model. For 10 points, what insulating materials are placed between the plates of a capacitor to increase capacitance?

Our season sadly came to an end this evening, with two heartbreakingly-close losses against our conference rival, Hallsville. Our seniors — Max, Josie, Trenton, and Taylor — have represented our school so incredibly well throughout their high school careers, and we are so excited to see where the future takes them. We are incredibly grateful for the laughs, learning, and love we have shared together as a team, and we thank all of our supporters who have cheered us on this season. We are already looking to next year, with both returning leaders and new faces. We are Southern Boone! Eagle Pride!

Our intrepid travelers made it home safely…finally…last night. After realizing we were driving into tornado warnings, we were forced to stop and shelter in Kingdom City until the danger had passed. Since we couldn’t get onto I-70 at Kingdom City, we had to take the back roads home…not so much fun in a bus in severe thunderstorms. However, we have now shared an adventure, and we hope the team made life-long memories! Thank you to everyone who supported our team this season! We have our quarterfinal match tomorrow at Hallsville, and then will hopefully be headed to the State tournament! Regardless of the outcome, Coach Rogers and Coach Raines are incredibly proud of the team, their hard work and growth, and their leadership for our future players!

Well, our tournament journey has come to an end, earlier than we had hoped. Our team played hard and fought down to the last question. Unfortunately, we did not break to the next stage of the tournament. Fortunately, that means we will get to do a little bit of sightseeing tomorrow morning before we head back to the Show-Me State!

We wish the best of luck to our fellow conference team, Hallsville, as they continue in their journey for the national championship!
