Happy Juneteenth from the Village of Park Forest Recreation, Parks & Community Health! ❤️💚

Today, we commemorate Juneteenth, a day that marks the end of slavery in the United States and celebrates freedom, resilience, culture, and progress.
On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued, enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, finally learned they were free.

As we honor this important day in our nation's history, we encourage our community to reflect on the contributions, achievements, and enduring legacy of African Americans while continuing to promote unity, equity, and opportunity for all.

Let us celebrate freedom, embrace our shared history, and work together to build a stronger and more inclusive community.

📢 Rich Township Food Truck Update – Today Only

Due to the threat of severe weather, the Rich Township Food Truck will not be serving lunch today at Central Park or Somonauk Park.

Families who would like to receive lunch today are welcome to visit Rich Township High School in Richton Park instead.

We also want to remind everyone that the Food Truck will not be operating tomorrow, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth and the school holiday.

This after-camp program gives kids ages 8–12 a chance to continue the fun after camp while exploring creativity through hands-on art projects and new artistic styles. Hosted by Tall Grass Arts Association, each week introduces a different creative experience — from comic & anime illustration to painting, jewelry design, and mixed media art.

There’s still time to register for Campapalooza Summer Camp 2026! ☀️

Summer is right around the corner, and we’re getting ready for another fun-filled camp season at Campapalooza. We still have spots available for campers ages 6–13. Families can choose Session 1, Session 2, or the full summer option based on what works best for their schedule.
