Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go. – T. S. Eliot
You can’t find out how far you can go until you try. Nick and Nate, two corporate America guys with no idea how to run a world class shooting sports resort jumped off a cliff in 2009 with a dream. We purchased the old run-down golf resort known as Park Mammoth Resort and founded Rockcastle Shooting Center. The rest is history.
With heavy hearts, Nick, Nate and Jim Noble, Jack and Barbara Blanton and Derek and Beth Lanham would like to inform you all that we have made the decision to permanently close the “Legendary” Rockcastle Shooting Center in Park City, Kentucky. In the negotiations to continue shooting center operations at the resort we realized some very limiting factors, including reduced shooting range footprint, and timing issues related to the 6 to 10-month closure of major parts of the resort during remodeling. Acknowledging these issues, we realized they do not allow for the Rockcastle Shooting Center experience that our members and guests have come to know and expect, and we thought it best to shut down the shooting center and explore alternative options.
Over the last 10 years of the amazingly, successful operation of the shooting center, we have hosted more than 300 shooting competitions from World Championships down to the local matches. We have been featured on national television shows, and in national magazines. We were recently named on of the top ten shooting ranges in the country by Outdoor Life and Field and Stream Magazines.
We have had our (now) friends visit us from over 28 foreign countries. What amazed us most during the journey was that our new friend’s, became instant family. A family of likeminded people from all over this country and the world. And we love every one of you.
We have grown phenomenal relationships with many of the companies in the shooting, hunting, and outdoor trades, and hope to continue all of them. More importantly, we have developed true friendships with many of the most amazing people on the planet. We love our shooting family and look forward to doing life with all of you in the future. The Nobles aren’t done in the shooting world. It was a very good run and one that we will never forget. From the core of our being, thank you everyone for your continued love and support through the years. We have no regrets.
We know we have made an impact in the competitive shooting and training world. We are proud of it. We would do it all over again. And maybe we will, now that we know what to do and what not to do. Thank you all. Nothing would have been possible without all of you, and nothing would have been possible without the love and support of our Savior, Jesus and the Lord Almighty.
We would love for you to share your favorite Rockcastle memories on this page.
Lastly, we want to thank all the people that made Rockcastle possible. Our employees that poured so much of their soul into the place, our match directors that created all the amazing “events” that we hosted, and all you that made it possible for us to deliver an experience. These weren’t matches, they were experiences.
Money matters. Spend it where you love to go. Very important lesson.
God bless you al!!
Rockcastle Out!
