District 2 Tournament

We are headed into tournament time and here are some things to know. This Saturday is the Little League State meeting where we find out if we have sectionals at certain divisions. That is a key factor in the schedule. We do anticipate starting early in our 50/70 division like last year. Schedule will be coming out early next week for all divisions. Presidents have been communicated with about this. We have two of our biggest divisions 8-10 Baseball and Little League Baseball starting at the same time at State and usually that is a week apart. We also have a State baseball tournament this year.

Factors for schedule:

Do we have a sectional which we will know Saturday

Number of teams playing impacts days and we are still having drops/adds. We just had change this morning.

Umpire availability

Host site availability.

We all wish we had unlimited umpires and host sites but we don’t.

Please be patient as we work through creating the schedule.

Please be aware that all divisions should be ready to play 6/15 forward which has been communicates multiple times to the Presidents.

Thank you

District 2

We got a hot day out there. Regular season and not tournament, we do follow MHSAA rules with heat index which are below.

Leagues themselves can cancel if they choose to do so.

Parents also can choose if League is playing not to have player participate.

All leagues should be following the guidelines below and everyone should be watching players, coaches, and spectators to make sure everyone is okay in the heat.

Again D2 follows MHSAA heat index policy for regular season. Leagues themselves can cancel if they choose that option.

Thank you

We are sad to pass on the news of Roger Brown’s passing.

Roger was part of the Little League family for over 40 years from 1978 to 2018 and continued to come to events after his retirement in 2018.

He was an umpire in D2 for 22 years and served as the District 2 Umpire in Chief for 18 years.

His dedication to Little League and the kids was unmatched.

He will be greatly missed. We are sending much love and prayers to his family.

Reminder of District 2 Weather Policy

We do live in Michigan and weather is not always cooperative this time of year. Each league makes their decision when they call for weather or field conditions. Games should be called by 5pm. Leagues could wait all the way up to that time before they call. Everyone wants to get games in so be aware notice might not go out until 5pm.

D2 covers leagues in 4 counties (Kalamazoo, Allegan, Barry, and Calhoun). Weather is based on the county where the game is being played.

Also our leagues could call a game at 5pm and at game time it is sunny. Please remember just because it’s sunny, field conditions can still be issue.

Our leagues work very hard to make the call and safety is number one priority.

D2 page will not post of canceling games since that is up to each league to communicate.

Thank you
