8AM Pickup Basketball Run at 24 Hour Fitness Paramus NJ | Game 1 Highlights

First game from today’s pickup basketball run at 24 Hour Fitness in Paramus, New Jersey, and this one was a good back-and-forth battle.

We started at 8AM, played with a digital scoreboard, 15 minutes on the clock, and games to 10 by ones and twos. My team pulled out the win, and I hit two big two-pointers since the twos count heavy in this format.

This game had a little bit of everything: two-pointers, layups, ball movement, fancy dribbling, backdoor cuts, smart passes, and competitive pickup basketball energy. These are the type of weekend runs that make people love real hoop culture.

The full run was live on TikTok with over 7,000 total viewers coming in and out, and around 200 to 300 people watching live at the same time. If you like pickup basketball, New Jersey hoops, 24 Hour Fitness runs, basketball highlights, and real hoop debates, this is the type of content we post every week.

Would you rather play in a run where twos are worth more, or do you prefer regular scoring?

5 players. No subs. Overtime playoff loss.

We got knocked out in the first round of the Northeastern Basketball Men’s League playoffs in North Jersey, and this one definitely hurt. Last year we made it to the championship and lost. This year we lost in the first round.

We only had five players show up out of eight, so there was no bench and no real rest. But we still fought, pushed the game to overtime, and gave ourselves a chance to win.

I had a pretty good game personally, got to the basket, and knocked down around six or seven threes. But individual numbers do not mean much when the team does not get the win.

These are our team highlights: three-pointers, layups, ball movement, fancy dribbling, and real playoff basketball moments from a tough men’s league game.

Be honest: does playing hard matter after a playoff loss, or is the final score the only thing that matters?

The Truth About Reclassing In Youth Basketball

Reclassing in youth basketball sounds like an advantage, but it comes with real sacrifice.

A lot of AAU basketball players, high school basketball players, parents, and coaches look at reclassing as a way to get stronger, develop skills, mature physically, and improve basketball recruiting opportunities.

But reclassing is not just repeating a grade.

It can mean changing schools, making new friends, staying focused in class even when the material feels familiar, and putting in serious work on and off the court.

If you reclass, you cannot just play pickup basketball, go to team practice, and show up for games. You have to train, get stronger, improve your handle, improve your jump shot, build your basketball IQ, and use that extra year for real player development.

Parents and players also have to understand the social, mental, physical, and financial sacrifice that comes with it.

So here is the real question: is reclassing helping young basketball players, or is it becoming too common in AAU basketball?
