🏃‍♂️ Paragould Rams Cross Country – 2025 State Championship Recap 🏃‍♀️

We are extremely proud of the way our runners competed this season and represented Paragould High School at the Arkansas State Cross Country Championships!

This year’s 5A Division featured some of the toughest competition in the state with 229 runners on the boys’ side and 198 runners on the girls’ side.

Despite facing challenges throughout the season on the senior high girls side’ — our athletes continued to rise to the occasion, displaying heart, resilience, and teamwork from start to finish.

Our senior high girls team is a young group with zero seniors, while our senior high boys team includes only one senior. Even though we didn’t place as high as we hoped at state, this young, motivated group gained invaluable experience and showed the kind of growth that sets the foundation for future success.

Throughout the year, our Paragould Cross Country program achieved major progress — winning or placing high at nearly every meet we attended. Our runners recorded numerous PRs, showed consistency and competitiveness, and helped the program grow in both performance and participation.

At State, our younger athletes stepped up in a big way:
• On the boys’ side, we moved up two 9th graders, with one finishing in our top five.
• On the girls’ side, we moved up one 9th grader early in the season who also placed in our top five.

• Our fellow Paragould coaches – for their teamwork and collaboration to ensure our shared athletes had a successful and healthy XC season.

• A special thank-you to Shannon McDowell for his countless hours of hard work in creating and maintaining our new Paragould XC course, giving our athletes a home course to train and compete on.
• Our bus drivers – for safely transporting our teams to meets across the state and ensuring our runners always arrived ready to compete.

Thank you to The Carter Family for hosting a very fun night for the cross country team at Let’s Roll Paragould after their bon fire got rained out! The team is so blessed! Lots of laughs, food, and play without phones! ❤️💙 Thank you Brian and Emily Carter!

Junior High Boys — Conference Runner-Up

The Rams boys claimed Conference Runner-Up honors, led by three All-Conference finishes and multiple PRs.
• Ryan Webb – 2nd, PR 8:55 — All-Conference
• Ashton Morris – 6th, PR 9:09 — All-Conference
• Aiden Morris – 8th, PR 9:18 — All-Conference
• Tanner Grooms – 17th, PR 9:35
• Paxton McGowan – 28th, 9:50

👟 Junior High Girls — 6th Place Team Finish

The Lady Rams showed major progress, finishing 6th overall with two All-Conference runners and several PRs.
• Zoey Greer – 6th, PR 10:31 — All-Conference
• Brooklyn Edwards – 7th, 10:47 — All-Conference
• Jasmine Taylor – 37th, PR 12:05
• Isabella Ellzey – 45th, PR 12:20
• Rhiannon Agee – 53rd, PR 13:08

Multiple PRs and two medal finishes capped an excellent season of growth and consistency.

The Rams boys finished Conference Runner-Up, continuing their strong season with another powerful team effort.
• Tyler Bedgood – 2nd, PR 16:14 All-Conference.
• Brent Whiteley – 7th, 17:36 All-Conference.
• Zakir Omer – 8th, PR 17:42 All-Conference.
• Logan Brown – 16th, 18:40
• Luke Wooldridge – 25th, PR 19:16
Three PRs and three top-10 finishes led the way.

👟 Senior High Girls — 3rd Place Team Finish

The Lady Rams battled through a tough field to claim 3rd overall.
• Tiffany Bedgood – 8th, PR 22:24 All-Conference.
• Kaelyn Edwards – 13th, 22:56
• Aniya Dorsey – 18th, PR 23:40
• Yazmine Hernandez – 19th, PR 23:59
• Lucy McDowell – 21st, 24:17

Four of the top five ran a season bests for the lady Rams — a good finish to a season built on steady improvement and teamwork.

I want to give a HUGE shout out and THANK YOU to our cross country parents for hosting a very healthy team lunch before going and running conference yesterday! These kids were fueled up with some great food and went out and ran GREAT! Results to come!

🔥 Rising Among the Best in 5A 🔥

Tyler Bedgood clocks a 16:23.93 5K, currently ranked 13th overall in 5A and 3rd in 5A for the Sophomore Class ! 💪

🏁 Unico Blazer Invitational – Team Recap

The Rams had a strong showing this weekend at the Unico Blazer Invitational, bringing home impressive performances and several big PRs across all divisions! 🔥💪

Senior High Boys – 4th out of 12 Teams
Led by Tyler Bedgood with a 3rd place finish and new PR of 16:23!
Also scoring: Brent Whiteley (12th), Zakir Omer (15th), Logan Brown (22nd), and Dalen Burroughs (63rd).

Senior High Girls – 6th out of 9 Teams
Kaelyn Edwards led the way, finishing 15th out of 103 runners in 22:26, followed closely by Tiffany Bedgood (16th).

Junior High Girls – 9th out of 19 Teams
Brooklyn and Zoey Greer both cracked the Top 10, finishing 5th and 6th overall! 👏

Junior High Boys – 🥈2nd out of 19 Teams
A strong team effort led by Ryan Webb with a 9:21 PR, placing 9th overall, and supported by strong finishes from Ashton Morris (15th) and Tanner Grooms (20th).

Several Rams recorded huge PRs and strong races across all four teams.

1981 Paragould Alumni James Smith came to visit with the cross county team today! The PSD cross country team got the privilege of running mile 495 with James for St. Jude. James has been raising money for St Jude and already hit his goal of 5000 for 500 miles but has decided to run 600. He will be competing in the St Jude run in December! The kids got to have good conversation with him as they ran and got some insight on what it means to run for such a great cause. Thank You James for returning to Paragould and reaching out to our team to share your journey with!! If you see him around town (most have) go ahead and give him a honk and a wave!!! Go Paragould ❤️💙
