We wrapped up Day 1 of our Rebounding Training, and our athletes put in some great work! ๐Ÿ€

Weโ€™re excited to continue building on these skills throughout the week and watch their progress grow. One thing weโ€™ve noticed is that many young players simply havenโ€™t been taught the proper fundamentals of rebounding. Rebounding is much more than just grabbing the ball itโ€™s positioning, timing, balance, vision, and effort.

Weโ€™re proud to help teach those fundamentals and instill good habits that will benefit these athletes for years to come. Looking forward to another great session!

๐Ÿ€ This Week at Perfection Training: Rebounding Week! ๐Ÿ€

Weโ€™re focusing on the complete art of rebounding:
โœ… Offensive Rebounding

Memphis Open Run Recap โ€“ 7th/8th Grade Dragons ๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ€

Last weekend, our 7th/8th grade Arkansas Dragons traveled to Memphis for an open run and finished 1-1.

In our first game, we started a little slow but eventually found our rhythm. We jumped out to an early lead, but our opponent responded with some tough defense and made us earn everything. Our boys stayed composed, continued to battle, and closed the game out strong for a 49-39 victory.

The second game was a great opportunity for our program. We had the privilege of competing against Memphis Grizzlies Jaylen Wellsโ€™ team, The Disciples. They were a very well-developed and disciplined team, and it showed. Our Dragons were ready for the challenge, though, and competed from start to finish.

The game was a battle all the way through, with both teams trading baskets quarter after quarter. In the end, a few mistakes cost us the lead, and despite fighting hard to get back into it, we came up short 40-33. While the result wasnโ€™t what we wanted, the effort, toughness, and competitiveness our boys displayed made us proud.

This group continues to learn, compete, and grow every time they step on the floor. Weโ€™ll go back to work, learn from our mistakes, and keep getting better.

Proud of our 7th/8th Grade Dragons. ๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ”ฅ

Thank you, Memphis, for having us. Weโ€™ll be back!

Memphis Open Run Recap ๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ‰

Last weekend, we took our 5th grade and 7th/8th grade Arkansas Dragons to Memphis for an open run.

Our 5th grade group finished 0-2.

These young Dragons competed against teams that were 1-2 divisions above them. I wasnโ€™t going to let that stop them from getting valuable experience. Right now, our focus isnโ€™t wins and losses itโ€™s learning how to play the game the right way. We want to see the things we work on in practice: moving the ball, blocking out, setting screens, making cuts, staying in front of their man, getting the ball to the middle, and building chemistry as a team.

When youโ€™re playing older, more experienced competition, I donโ€™t view it as a loss I view it as a lesson. There are times I get frustrated with mistakes, but I also understand this is a process. These boys are young, theyโ€™re learning, and as long as I continue to see growth and improvement, Iโ€™m proud of their effort.

One thing that stands out is the feedback we consistently receive. Referees, coaches, and even players from other teams regularly tell us that this group has a bright future and will be a team to watch if they stay together. Hearing that from others means far more than hearing it from myself.

Keep grinding, little Dragons. Adversity doesnโ€™t stop us it helps us grow. ๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ€

Arkansas Dragons 7th/8th Grade practice, we have a unique shooting drill that we do consistently. I always challenge our players with specific goals and expectations, pushing them to perform at peak level.

It may not start out perfect, but by the end of practice the focus is sharper, mistakes are corrected, and the effort level is where it needs to be. Thatโ€™s what growth looks like.

You canโ€™t teach work ethic, but strong leaders and teammates can push each other to work harder, compete harder, and strive for more every day.

I love the teamwork. I love the communication. I love the competitiveness. Most of all, I love seeing these players improve and fall in love with the game of basketball. ๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ”ฅ
