Rain won at Eldora. The weekend plan is to race Bloomington on Friday and Paragon on Saturday. Come on out and watch some great racing!

Back on June 17th 1967 that was 59 years ago today National Sprint Car Hall of Famer , HARF Hall of Famer and Paragon Speedway Hall of Famer Big Edd Sheppard Presents Rex Mitchell a beautiful 37 inch trophy for a hundred lap win that night . Yes that white tee shirt and those old goggles was Rex Mitchell’s driving uniform that night . Rex became a SCIRA Champion, A multi time Paragon Speedway Champion, Rex was a two time Mid West National Championship winner. He held multiple Paragon Speedway track records over the years .
This year on June 20th Paragon Speedway will have a special event with a special format to crown the King of Paragon . In 1968 Edd Sheppard had a special event called “ The King of the Indiana Outlaws it was also a special format . Not much has been written about it but Rex Mitchell won that event and became the Original King of The Indiana Outlaws .
In 2021 Rex Mitchell was inducted into the HARF Hall of Fame . If you would like to learn more about the racing career of Rex Mitchell Me and Rex’s grand daughter has a face book group called “ Rex Mitchell sprint car driver 1960 and 70s” that we would be happy to add anyone to the group page

I’ve been watching the team of Darrel & Lisa Tate with Driver Jordan Kinser slapping around much of the competition for a while now very often
For us old timers that understands the rich Paragon Speedway history grins every time this team runs well .
This is just something that has been going on for generations and much longer than most of you younger fans realize .
When Me and Darrel Tate was young I watched Darrel learn his craft from his Dad Ralph and Jerry Shields who would latter become Darrels father in law . The great Galen Fox was also a mentor to young Darrel Tate as was Bob Kinser . Darrel fast became Jerry Shields right hand man . With a grease rag in his rear pocket they was no job to big for Young Darrel Tate . Darrel Tate was the most focused crew member I can ever remember in my life . He was all business on race day

In 1970 we got are first taste of the team of Bob Kinser , Car owner Jerry Shields , that was Lisa Tate’s dad , with crew members Ralph Tate , that was Darrel Tate’s Dad and even Bob Kinsers old time crew chef from the Rockin Chair Special Days in the 1960s Galen Fox would help on the Shields Car .
In 1971 the team picked up there first Paragon Speedway Championship as shown in the photo they would also capture the 1976 Paragon Track Championship and young Darrel Tate was a key factor in that 1976 Paragon Track Championship.

In the photo is Promoters Big Edd & Eddie Sheppard , Bob Kinser , next to Bob is Galen Fox , next to Galen is Lisa Tate’s dad and car owner of this car in the photo Jerry Shields , on the end is Darrel Tate’s dad Ralph Tate .

Darrel and Lisa Tate’s roots are about as deep as they get at Paragon Speedway and the family has been winners for over 6 decades at the Famed Paragon Speedway .
To see Lisa and Darrel Tate win with a driver named Kinser just adds to the smile on my face when they win or run well .

Saturday, June 20th

Only 1️⃣ Class Running
D Transport 410 Sprints

👑 King of Paragon Race Format

Qualifying

* Double-car qualifying
* All drivers will qualify against the clock
* The Top 6 fastest qualifiers will be locked into the King of the Paragon

Heat Races

* Heat race lineups set by qualifying times
* Straight up heat race format
* Heat race finishing positions will determine the remainder of the A-Main lineup
* No invert

King of the Hill Race

* Following the heat races
* Top 6 qualifiers compete in a head-to-head King of the Paragon showdown
* Winner earns the title of King of Paragon
* Winner will also be locked in the Pole Position for the A-Feature
* Each win earns the driver an extra $250

A-Feature

* King of the Paragon winner starts on the pole
* 25 laps
* No invert/Straight up format
* If the winner of the King of Paragon wins the feature they will also earn an extra $250 earning, could earn up to $4,000

B Feature

* 20 laps
* No invert/straight up format

🔥 Fast cars. High stakes. One driver will wear the Belt.
