Who's ready for some playoffs??

Playoff Match #1 Preview

The #5 Los Angeles Wave will take on the #12 Atlanta Scorpions to kick off the Inaugural WPBL Playoffs. The teams met once in the regular season back in Week # 2 where it was Los Angeles who won decisively 14-4. (http://wpbltv.com/custom/play_archive/2013-10-23)

The Wave enter the playoffs on a high note having won their last regular season match against the Philadelphia Aces (http://wpbltv.com/custom/play_archive/2014-01-19) to finish their season with a 5-4 record and an average of 8.8 points per match. Los Angeles has probably been the most consistent team this season with most of their matches win or lose coming down to the wire. The Elder Dominguez Ernesto leads the team with an overall player rating of #8 not far behind is his son and team captain Oscar who is rated #16, The team is rounded out by Louis Ulrich who sits in the #26 position after an up and down regular season.

The Scorpions enter the playoffs after a heartbreaking loss to the Philadelphia Aces in their final regular season match (http://wpbltv.com/custom/play_archive/2014-01-17) ending the regular season in the bottom of the standings with a 2-7 record and an average of 6.1 points per match. In a word "disappointing" would be the way to sum up Atlanta's regular season. After getting beat soundly in the opening match of the league by the New York Pride, the Scorpions just never seemed to get on track. Team captain Johnny Archer led the team by finishing 7th overall in individual player rating and held an impressive singles record of 7-2. Archer’s teammates Shannon Daulton and Dennis Hatch were near the bottom finishing #32 and #37 respectively.
A marquee match- up will happen early in this one as Oscar and Ernesto Dominguez will take on Mosconi Cup teammates Johnny Archer and Dennis Hatch in the first doubles game of the match. The singles portion as always will be very telling of the victor in this one
