Helping Hikers get off-road on foot, i.e. actually get out of their vehicles and onto the mountain.

G'day

Despite us all Urging Phoenix officials to triple the number of parking spaces at Echo Canyon, Phoenix officials spent millions of dollars only to double the number of parking spaces. Thus, Echo chaos ensues.

Please know that my intentions for Park n' Hike were to serve hikers and PV community until Phoenix could develop and implement a viable resolve and prevent restrictions. For the most part it was a blast and a super fun reason to get out of bed before dawn.

Plus, PV Town Management team proved spectacular.

I Thank Ya'all for the calls, offers to help and the encouragement for me to resume "happy hiker" shuttle.
Now, I am happy to rededicate my weekend time to me. YaY

Mr. Jerry V is out there working to help all of us hikers. Please be kind to him and supportive of him as he continues to advocated for all of is hikers and park rangers while fighting for the proper use and legal disbursement of PPI funds.

This is one of the kind men that supported our efforts before I was sure I wanted to follow through with Park n' Hike.

Yes, the same Jerry V that contributed much of the fruit (all of that yummy watermelon) and much of his weekend time helping my team to serve all visitors Camelback Mountain and residents of Paradise Valley.

Jerry V continues...

He is out there giving his time to make sure that we can get our hike on.

If you can spare some time, ask him how you can help.
At minimum, shake his hand as he is a solid integral man and phenomenal Dad

Cheers

Good Day All
This marks the last day for Echo Canyon to be open to hikers. Starting tomorrow Echo Canyon will be exclusively open to city staff and contractors performing the much needed work to improve Echo Canyon Park. If you are totally in-true-love with Echo Canyon try Siphon Draw at Superstition Mountain for 2.5 times the physical experience you get at Echo and 100 times more beautiful if you pop up to the north east side. Wishing you all the courage to try out some new wonderful hiking adventures. Wishing you all wonderfully fun filled "off-road-on-foot" adventures.
Cheer

Camelback Mountain
The City of Phoenix Parks and Recreations Department plans to close Echo Canyon Park January 14, 2013 (during peak hiking season). However, they plan to keep the Cholla Trail open. This will result in irreparable damage to Cholla Trail. We ask for your support to have Cholla closed concurrently with Echo Trail closure. At minimum, we request Cholla Trail to be closed January 14, 2013 through May 31, 2013.

During Camelback Mountain Closures we encourage Cholla Trail lovers to supplement their hiking needs at the Sunrise Summit Trail (Via Linda east –Views of the Valley and Fountains Hills, even the fountain--cant miss it) and we encourage Echo Canyon Hikers to hike it at Tom’s Thumb or Superstition (Siphon Draw up to Flat Iron). Many Many More Awesome Trails for everyone out there. You can still get our hike on while you save Cholla from being pounded during peak tourist/hiking season.

Per Phoenix Parks staff council person Sal Diciccio and Mayor Stanton are primary decision makers to that can save the East Side of Camelback Mountain, thus save the Cholla by closing it concurrently with Echo or delay Echo Closure until May 6, 2013
