Liberty Haganah Center is proud to celebrate the promotion of Barry Patterson and Jason Reiser to the rank of First Degree Instructor Black Belt in the HaganaH fighting system. Years of hard work paid off with a grueling test of endurance, perseverance, determination, grit, passion, and technical capability.

Instructors Patterson and Reiser demonstrated their thorough knowledge of the fundamental techniques that make up the system under less than ideal conditions. The testing highlighted their ability to adapt to rapidly changing environments. They showed that they have what it takes to be part of group that is small in numbers; but big in heart, tenacity, abilities, and contributions to society.

I am grateful for the leadership of LHC’s instructor cadre and students who helped administer the test. Many, along with family and friends, supported their fellow teammates with encouragement, training assistance, snacks, and their time/presence.

I would also like to thank Master Instructor and Black Belt Edward Du Plessis and Black Belt Instructor Jason of Hudson Valley HaganaH - the Northeast HQ of the HaganaH System.

We also recognize the award of First Degree Instructor Black Belt to Pat Hooper who already received his student black belt. Hoop has been an integral member of LHC’s leadership and instructor team. Pat was promoted by HaganaH founder Mike Lee Kanarek in October, and we were able to formally present him with his belt after Barry and Jason’s test.

At Liberty Haganah Center we stress physical fitness but also physical conditioning. We slowly build you up to minimize your flinch response and acclimatize you to punches being thrown at you. This includes strong body punches to gloves held tight against your stomach as you exhale sharply. You don’t your first time experiencing a punch to be a real fight.
