Who can spot the guy who’s not supposed to be in this crew? 🎣😂

Here's one for the books...

This morning we were waiting on Robert for a split trip, and he wasn't answering his phone. I was convinced he'd either slept in or was ghosting my calls.

Meanwhile, Blake boarded the wrong boat but caught himself before departure. One of our regulars, Richard, has done the same thing before and had to be brought back to the dock. You'd think we'd have this figured out by now.

What nobody realized was that Robert was already fishing.

On the other boat.

Robert was supposed to be on the 8-hour split trip aboard Short Fuse with Captain Bubba and Jake, Blake, Richard, Ron, Tyler, and Glenn. After waiting on him, they finally left around 6:15 and made the run offshore. A couple of hours later, just as they were getting ready to start bottom fishing, a steering problem sent them back to the dock.

Meanwhile, Robert spent the day happily fishing aboard DeepWater with Captain Sigurd, Deral, Tim Boteler, and crew. Nobody questioned a thing.

The funny part is that the DeepWater crew only had five anglers, so Robert fit right in. The not-so-funny part was the wind and waves. The calm seas we were promised never really showed up, and things stayed pretty sloppy and sporty most of the day.

Even so, Tim and the gang absolutely got it done. That's a pretty stellar catch under these conditions on a six hour trip!

We didn't figure any of this out until everyone got back and Robert was trying to figure out who he was supposed to pay. 😆

So while I spent the morning thinking Robert had stood us up, he accidentally ended up with the best deal of anybody.

A big thank you to Blake, Richard, Ron, Tyler, and Glenn for being gracious about the situation. It definitely wasn't how anyone planned the day, but we appreciate your patience and understanding.

Hopefully it's a quick fix and Short Fuse will be by back out there doing what she does best very soon.

P.S. The steering issue? Of course it’s fixed. Now if I can figure out how to herd six grown men as well as I do kindergartners, then we’ll be in good shape!!

The wind was blowing, the waves were rolling— that was nothin for this crew… but those thievin’ @ #$% dolphins?!? 😤 That’s another story!! everybody thinks they’re cute until they start stealing everything!! and then playing with YOUR catch — that might even be worse!!
Big thanks to Andrew, Christopher, and Ricky for hanging in there and getting it done anyway. Some days fishing is easy. Today was not one of those days. 😆
I'd say this crew did a pretty good job in spite of all the obstacles. Thanks for fishing with us, guys! 🎣
