One Last Wave Project

One Last Wave Project He invited them to share the stories and names of loved ones who they'd lost and promised to bring them back to the place that meant so much to them.

One Last Wave Project uses the healing power of the ocean to help grieving families, etching loved ones names onto hand-crafted surfboards and paddling them into the ocean to catch a symbolic last wave

Our mission is to harness the healing power of the ocean to help grieving families coping with the loss of a loved one who had a de

ep connection to the ocean or nature. We memorialize your loved ones by carefully etching their names onto surfboards that are hand-shaped locally and then carrying them out into the ocean to catch a symbolic one last wave as an active way to honor them in a place they loved. The Story:
After experiencing the devastating loss of his father and best friend, Dan Fischer turned to surfing to cope with his grief and heal through the transformative power of the ocean. After one faithful salt water sessions on January 4, 2022, he decided to throw out an open invitation on social media to others who may be struggling with loss during covid's very isolating time. These special boards, now beacons of hope, ensure that every loved one's story is told in order to help the families find healing and community through the One Last Wave Project. What began as a simple gesture has turned into a global movement and supportive community that has been helping bring peace to families all around the world.

Board 10 carries 2,606 of your loved one’s names, each deeply cherished and shared with us through heartfelt stories and connection.

Our merch was made to carry them with you. We wear it as a loving reminder that they are not forgotten, that their names continue to be spoken and live on, as they return to the ocean again and again.

If you’d like to support our work and continue the pay it forward tradition to help future families then please consider checking out all of our merch that is available in our shop online at (also linked in our bio):

BOARD 10 IS HERE! Please read and share!

This is a first glimpse of our 10th surfboard carrying 2,606 of your dear loved one’s names hand-written upon it. This is of course more than a surfboard, it is a living memorial that came together through a wonderful collaboration and your willingness to share these heart-warming stories with us.

📍To find your loved one’s name tap the screen (Instagram) or push and hold (Facebook) to pause the video and search. Say their name ❤️

Right now I won’t be providing individual screenshots so please take some quiet time to watch the video and explore the board yourself. There will be high resolution images posted to the website gallery once we have launched and photographed it.

This board came to life through an extraordinary collaboration ❤️:
• Design, shaping and artwork: and the Bark family
• Supers V2 Fin: Cronjé & Hannah
• Board Guardians: Kristen, Rod , Paige and forever Riese Lenders
• And the heart behind every single name was Kristen who worked tirelessly, with immense care and emotion to etch each one. This board carries the most names of any board to date and is a true labor of love.

🏄🏻‍♂️The launch is coming in a few weeks at Bluff Cove in Palos Verdes, California. A date and time will be announced soon. And remember, our surfboards aren’t just surfed one time, they return to the ocean again and again to continue to honor and say your loved one’s names. You can come visit after the launch anytime as well!

Looking forward to sharing more in the coming days and weeks ❤️

Much love to you all,

Dan

Much like the oceans that connect us, we are united in grief and connected by love.

Through the One Last Wave Project, families who have honored a loved one on a previous surfboard have stepped up to help bring the next beacon of hope to life. It has turned pain into purpose by choosing to pay it forward so another family can feel supported and surrounded by love in their hardest moments.

Sam became the guardian of Board 7 after having his dear friend Will honored on Board 4. And now, Kristen and Rod after visiting that board in the UK with their son Riese’s name on it decided they wanted to do the same.

This is a bit of that story to share. It is a beautiful reminder that even in heartbreak we can create something that heals others ❤️

Much love,

Dan

Some behind the scenes footage that demonstrates just how much work and love goes into making each of these boards.

Here is Cronjé from handcrafting this stunning yellow fin for our 10th surfboard that is being shaped by . The shape and color are both significant for the area of Bluff Cove where it will be launched. The bluff is filled with stunning yellow flowers in the spring, therefore a fitting symbol of the area. More importantly it carries special significance to the Lenders’ family, whose son Riese, who passed away is the driving force behind why they chose to spearhead this venture as guardians of board 10.

Enjoy and share these special moments as we work to finish the board soon.

Much love,
Dan

Sometimes we need to just let ourselves move at the pace of healing, that journey as we know is never a race.

Here we are. The much anticipated launch of our 9th surfboard carrying 1426 of your loved ones into the healing waves in Lofoten, Norway. I know many of you were waiting eagerly to see these images and today just in time for the holidays I’m happy to be able to share them.

Please join me in thanking Kristian and Line from as the guardians of the board for helping organize this all. Petter for the honor, courage, and warmth to take this out into the waves, surfing for us all 🤙🏻, and to Jim for his talents in capturing this incredible footage and putting it all together so beautifully. Please follow and support their efforts.

There will be more rides and footage shared but I wanted to get this out to you asap. I know it’s emotional to see but as always I do hope it is healing as well ❤️🌊🏄🏻‍♂️

Much love,
Dan

We will never forget them ❤️🌊

16,693 loved ones honored on nine surfboards worldwide.

I remember, so vividly, sitting on the beach after that first surf with my dad’s name on the board, peak pandemic, wanting to share this healing opportunity with others.

I wondered if I made a video and post it if anyone would really see it. A moment cemented in time.

I’m happy I did and forever thankful to each and every one of you who watched, engaged, supported and helped share this project to build our community. We have and continue to help each other and it’s a beautiful thing to be a part of.

What a journey it has been with so much more to come.

Much love,
Dan
