Dear team,
Our Cooperstown journey came to an end last night, and while the record books will show 6-2, that’s not what we’ll remember.
We’ll remember a group of boys who came to Cooperstown already connected by a special bond and somehow left even closer. Battling ear infections, stomach bugs, torn-up legs n limbs, sore muscles, exhaustion… you never quit. You never pointed fingers. You picked each other up. You trusted each other.
And just like that, we watched you grow up right in front of us.
We faced two teams that are still playing today in the Sweet Sixteen…. And when we eventually ran into the tournament’s #1 seed, there were no tears.
You laughed and competed until the last out, together.
(The tears came from the parents) Because when we watched a group of young men stand shoulder-to-shoulder after giving everything they have - not for themselves, but for each other - it hit us differently.
Your connection is undeniable.
Your brotherhood is your superpower.
No ranking can measure that. No trophy can create it. No pickup team can replicate it.
And no final score can take it away.
We cheered for home runs, big plays, incredible catches, great pitching performances, clutch hits…. So many amazing baseball moments and everyone contributed.
And to our coaches, thank you. Thank you for your endless time, energy, patience, and belief in these boys. This team is family, and this week was strengthened by the leadership and commitment you poured into it.
Years from now, you might remember the final record, but you’ll also smile about playing ultimate wiffle ball, laughing in the bunks until midnight, inside jokes with your coaches, dance parties, Anna Frey… and the way you had each other’s backs every single day. You’ll smile with pride knowing you are part of a brotherhood that will always feel like home.
With love,
the parents of Elite
❤️
