This isn't just about one person, and anyone who thinks this is about me is foolish. This is dedicated to our entire staff of coaches, boosters, families, and community supporters who believed in our vision and worked to achieve it. Most importantly, this is for the wrestlers who left blood, sweat, and tears in the practice room to make it a reality. Thank you, Palmyra Wrestling community and District 3 coaching peers! *P

🔥🤼 COACH OF THE YEAR! 🔥🤼

A huge congratulations to Palmyra Wrestling Head Coach Jon Regets who on Saturday was named year’s recipient of the PIAA District 3 AAA Coach of the Year, as voted by his peers.

Regets, now in his 4th season leading the varsity Cougars after previously serving as the program’s junior high coach, guided Palmyra to a 20-5 record and helped deliver a milestone: the program’s first-ever State Championship Tournament appearance. That breakthrough run was followed by a District 3 – Section 2 Championship, continuing a season of firsts.

He received the honor at Regionals, where Palmyra also had three wrestlers advance to States — a fitting cap on a year that’s raised the standard for the program.

We caught up with Regets who had this to say about being named Coach of the Year:

“This award isn't for me, it's for all the Palmyra coaches, wrestlers, and our supporters who believed in the vision and dedicated time to make it a reality.”

The postseason continues as three *P wrestlers set a new record for Palmyra Wrestling. Three individual State Qualifiers are the most in a single season in the history of Palmyra Wrestling.

🏆🤼 DISTRICT 3 SECTION CHAMPS! 🤼🏆

Palmyra Wrestling put together a championship day on Saturday at Hempfield, capturing the District 3 AAA Section 2 Team Title — 1st out of 15 teams behind a wave of finalists and automatic qualifiers.

The Cougars were led by two individual champions: Elijah Foltz (107) — who set the tone early and closed it out with a title — and Aaron Andrew (160), who capped a complete run with a championship shutout.

Palmyra’s depth sealed it, with multiple finalists and podium finishes across the bracket — and a big group punching tickets forward in a format that wrestled to 6 places, with the top 4 advancing to Districts / South Central Regionals.

🔥🤼 HISTORY MADE: PALMYRA EARNS FIRST STATE TEAM WIN 🤼🔥

On Tuesday night, Palmyra Wrestling etched its name into the record books with the first PIAA State Team Tournament win in program history, rolling to a 59–16 victory in a performance that was equal parts fast starts and relentless bonus points. The Cougars came out flying — Owen Clark opened with a 16–0 tech fall at 133, then Tyler Detwiler (0:57) and Nicholas Weidman (0:31) delivered lightning-quick pins to jump out to a 17–0 lead. Palmyra never let up, as Aaron Andrew (0:25), Alex Csongradi (0:44), and Kyler Sparks (2:50) added falls during a dominant middle-weight stretch, and the Cougars put a bow on it late with a pin from Russell Cisney and a clinching fall by Nicolas Gordon.

The Cougars’ historic team run eventually ended against host Franklin Regional, but even in the loss, Palmyra showed it belonged on the state stage. Detwiler picked up another pin, while Elijah Foltz and Gordon both earned tech falls, and Clark collected a forfeit as Palmyra battled to the final whistle.

🏆 One of the best team seasons in Palmyra history is in the books — and the state tournament experience only sets the stage for a dangerous individual postseason run.
