Apparently Business for Nerds has reached the “I’m making myself a shirt” stage. 😂🚀

This is just a prototype for me to wear on videos and around town. Partly because I think it’s fun, and partly because... why wouldn't I turn myself into a walking Business for Nerds billboard? 😂

I’m testing the design before I print it.

Keep it as-is? Bigger rocket? Less cosmic chaos?

I wanted to ask my peeps before printing. Thanks for any feedback.

What is Business for Nerds?

It’s for people building a business who don’t need more guru noise.
They need a clearer map.

We help smart, thoughtful business owners spot the bottleneck, stop circling, and make the next move without burnout or performative marketing.

We hates boring, lifeless cubicles. 😤

So we built our own spaces instead.

I remember back in the day being quoted $10,000 to help “get my business going.”

This was 2015. I was a newb private practice owner. I hung up the phone and cried.

Another thing we’re often facing is coaches promising things like:

“Recession-proof your business!”
“Get to 6 figures in 6 months!”

…and I’m always like 🙄

Scott Perry talks about this a lot — big promises, small delivery.
Yesterday I saw a post promising these kinds of things and my therapist-nerd brain short-circuited a bit.

The truth?

No coach can recession-proof anything or guarantee 6 figures in 6 months.

Unless it’s a fluke.

There’s no universal formula for that because what worked for them won’t automatically work for us and our audiences. We each have to find our own path here.

What good coaches can help with:
– Understanding your numbers
– Brainstorming and building diversified income streams
– Reducing your dependence on any one platform or payer
– Building offers that actually fit your energy + season of life.

What we can’t do:
– Control the economy
– Prevent policy changes
– Guarantee full caseloads forever

I’m not interested in selling invincibility.

I’m interested in helping weary, smart, overgiving therapists, coaches, and nerds:
– stop building in the dark
– stop overpaying for vague blueprints
– start running small, doable experiments that actually move the needle over time

If you’ve been burned by a big-ticket program that overpromised, you’re not the problem.

The promise was.

My work (Offer Lab, Compassion Reset, etc.) won’t promise “recession-proof.”

It will promise:
– burnout-management ideas
– a path to clarity
– smaller risks
– nerdy support
– and business experiments that respect your nervous system

If that’s the game you’d rather play, you’re my people. 💜

This is why I’ve been quieter lately. Sadness / tearjerker warning.

No workshop today—I’m giving myself some space to grieve the loss of my furbaby.

This isn’t therapy or coaching, just me sharing as a fellow human + business nerd.

Part of compassion fatigue management is remembering that we (helpers, creatives, and small biz owners) need space too when life crits us for massive emotional damage.

Sometimes that looks like:
hanging out with people and light work
taking breaks and making things
going for a walk
or diving into a comforting video game for a bit of healthy distraction

What we need can change moment by moment.
I have plenty of support—friends, family, and my own therapist—to help me process this grief.

Thank you for being such a kind little corner of the internet. 💙
