Hey everyone! I am hosting an event with on Saturday, April 17th at 4:30pm! 👏🏼 We will be playing sand volleyball (scroll down for address) and enjoying food from a local food truck and beer keg car (think food truck for beer 😍)! Don’t worry about being good at volleyball, this event is for everyone! Tell your friends, it’s going to be a LOT of fun! Most of us know that hip thrusts are one of the best movements to build strong glutes! So besides getting a big ole DONK, why are strong glutes important?
1️⃣ Improved posture! Most of Americans sit W A Y too much. Sitting too much (being in hip flexion) means your glutes are disengaged and your hip flexors are probably becoming tighter than Ariana Grandes pony tail. This will eventually inhibit your ability to fully extend your hips and engage your glutes properly. Sounds like some serious slouching to me!
2️⃣ Improved back, hip, knee, and ankle pain! This one ties in to # 1 as improved posture should improve back pain. Your glutes also work to stabilize and keep your pelvis in its proper position. The body is a kinetic chain and if one link is out of wack, it can cause issues down the line to compensate!
3️⃣ Increased athleticism! If you want to be an athletic beast, you N E E D strong glutes. This will improve speed, agility, power, and balance as well as lower your risk of injury. Seriously, I can not stress enough how crucial a strong wagon is for every athlete!

✨ G E T T O K N O W M E ✨
I have noticed some new people have started following me (thank you so much, btw), so I wanted to say hi ✌🏼 and tell you a few things about me!
1️⃣ I love Jesus and am doing my best to follow Him every day! HE is the reason for every good thing in my life! 💕
2️⃣ I played D2 volleyball and got my B.S. in Exercise Physiology at Valdosta State University. 🏐👩🏼‍🎓
3️⃣ I went vegan literally over night in 2015 after doing a bunch of research and have never looked back! 🍌🫐
4️⃣ I am marrying my best friend in November of this year and I CAN NOT WAIT! 🎉
5️⃣ My number 1 passion in life is helping dedicated athletes get collegiate scholarships and helping resilient individuals rediscover the freedom of movement! I LOVE MY JOB ‼️

‼️ P R O P E R S Q U A T F O R M ‼️
My squat form is not perfect by any means, and I have not put a barbell on my back to squat in ~ literally ~ over a year (nothing wrong with it, I just prefer to stay away from heavily loading my spine), but I wanted to post this to give y’all an idea of what your squat should look like! Find some tips below 👇🏼
1️⃣ Create intra-abdominal pressure with your breath and keep your core tight - research or ask me about breathing while lifting before-hand so you don’t pass out
2️⃣ Allow your head to follow your hip hinge - don’t look up at a wall
3️⃣ Posteriorly tilt your hips slightly before you lower into your squat - keep your glutes tight the WHOLE way through your squat, not just “at the top”
4️⃣ Keep your knees out, especially as you come up out of your squat - this does not mean excessively point your toes out. Try to spread the ground with your feet
5️⃣ As you come out of your squat, your hips and shoulders should rise at the same time - if your hips rise before your shoulders, work on your core (anterior and posterior) strength 🏋🏼‍♀️

🗣A TIP TO FIX YOUR SQUAT NOW🗣
I see a lot of people arching their back when they squat. This not only disengages your core and glutes, robbing you of potential gains, but it also puts your back an enormous risk of injury. To avoid this, squeeze those cheeks together like you have a 100 dollar bill in between them and brace your core like someone is going to punch you in the gut! Also, allow your hips to hinge and your head to follow. AKA don’t look at the ceiling or the wall above you when you squat. This promotes an excessive arch in your lower back, which we want to avoid.

What does wellness mean to you? 🤔
I think everyone has different ideas of what wellness means to them, so when asked me to share my personal definition I was really happy to! Thank you !
For me, wellness means intentionally being kind to my mind and my body. This includes spending time exercising, eating nutritious foods, getting 8 hours of sleep, and practicing positive self-talk. Pushing myself and growing outside of my comfort zone is important. However, my wellness ALSO includes eating a whole pizza and a glass of wine while watching the bachelor, taking rest days where I do aaabsolutely nothing that I don’t WANT to do, and spending time with people I love!
I guess to me wellness really means listening to my body and being aware of what I need in that moment to be my healthiest, happiest, and best self both physically and mentally but also pushing to be better and getting out of my comfort zone to GROW!

🔥 row -> clean is KILLER and is a great example of why I love training with full body, functional, compound movements. This challenged my strength, balance, coordination, and required nearly every muscle in my body to be on point 💪🏼 Also, important note: I’m in a slight anterior pelvic tilt here, ideally I need to posteriorly tilt my pelvis to avoid the slight arch in my lower back.
