These photos are pretty representative of the years when life went sideways and the intense healing journey that followed.
I wasn't always the coach.
I was first the client.
Losing my father, COVID, leaving a job of 11 years and not being able to say goodbye, the cold distance my fiancé at the time started displaying all came to a head in October 2020.
I was the woman who thought she was doing everything right but knew deep down, that something was wrong. (I learned later about attachment styles, how the anxious part of me was attracted to the dismissive avoidant part of him.)
I looked like I had it all together but I was barely hanging on. (I learned this message early - don't show people what's happening in your home. Unfortunately, that thought isolated me.)
I was prescribed medication, had someone even watch me take it.
But I decided to do the healing without the medication. (If you need the medication, please take it! We all need help, whatever form it comes in. Always discuss these decisions with your primary care provider.)
I was doing nervous system work before I knew it was nervous system work.
I had to work on my identity: who was I before he turned cold, before COVID, before feeling like I was at the bottom of the barrel?
My faith called me home. I didn't realize how much my Catholic faith would bring me out of the depths of that barrel, and the community I would simultaneously become a part of and create for myself.
The healing didn't happen overnight. It took years.
Two steps forward. Three steps back.
The Cha-cha of life.
My life changed.
It's why I coach.
Not because I have it all figured out, but because I know what the other side of confusion, frustration, even deep despair looks like.
I want to show you the path.
If you're in this place where I was - I see you.
I built ONWARD for you.
